Maturity can be a good thing, especially when it comes to fine wine, cheese or ripe, delicious fruit. But as a state of mind, maturity can feel a bit lifeless and boring. We may envision an older “mature woman” who lives a bland, insipid lifestyle clinging to her beloved dog and superficial television shows. Of course there’s nothing wrong with that chosen reality, as it may bring much joy to that type of person who finds peace and security in self-contained mediocrity.

On the other hand, immaturity may be regarded as being silly, reckless, foolish – laughing at flatulence, dancing on bubble wrap, or staying up past midnight. “Why can’t you just act your age?” says the uptight ol’ sourpuss who never smiles. Act my age? Why would I want to act my age after just spending $60 on hair coloring to cover my grays? I just barely figured out what I want to BE when I grow up – HAPPY! That’s it. Happiness is the key to staying young at heart and steering clear of becoming a grumpy old curmudgeon.

To “defy maturity” is to just forget about what age you are and how you think you are supposed to act. Do and say whatever you want (as long as it’s not too offensive). Wear stripes and polka-dots together if you want to. Laugh out loud in the movie theater – even if you’re the only one. Fly a kite out your sunroof while driving down the highway. Spend the day at a water park, playground or amusement park – get wet, dirty, sweaty and stinky – have FUN! It really doesn’t matter how old you are, or what quirky things bring you joy. It is all about attitude and the way you feel when you’re thoroughly enjoying yourself. Smiling and laughing are wonderfully contagious, as they give others permission to express joy and share happiness .

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness .” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

To be young at heart is a feeling, reflecting your inner health – your mojo, your passion , your lust for life. It is a way to experience pure positive energy when you feel excited for no reason, full of gratitude and wonder, allowing your imagination to manifest in fantastically creative and unexpected ways. It is tapping into that inner wisdom and juiciness – feeling sensually empowered and deeply connected with everyone around you. We all crave this feeling, as complete wellness is truly our most natural state of being. Sometimes it doesn’t come all that easy and we need a reminder of how grand life really is. How can we restore that fearless sense of youthfulness or muster up enough motivation to pursue our greatest passions? How can we find peace and joy in experiencing life’s simplest pleasures?

Here’s a little assignment for you : ) ~ Watch the movie Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium with Natalie Portman and Dustin Hoffman. This wonderfully magical film will surely lighten your spirit and make you feel like a kid again! One of my favorite quotes from the movie is, “Your life is an occasion. Rise to it.” This has become my personal motto.

Treasured experiences are different for everyone, as we all have varied preferences in what lights us up. When we take time appreciate all of the precious gifts in life such as an exquisite sunset, the fragrance of a rose, devouring a popsicle on a hot day, the laugh of a child, or a walk along the beach, it is a good idea to create a gratitude journal. At the end of each day, write down only positive things that made you smile or that took your breath away – just a brief description of that special moment in time. You could write where you were, who you were with and how you felt. Leave out the drama, concerns and tedious details. Use more concise phrases, like a poetic recollection of that specific time and space. Title your page, “A Day at the Park with ___.” – or something like that to trigger the memory. Even spending time alone can be particularly insightful – especially when you experience something new and different than what you are used to.

Make it a goal to do something totally crazy and wonderful at least once a week so you have some good juicy bits and pieces to add to your personal anthology. After several epic entries, you will have a beautiful little book of gratitude reflecting your most choice moments. Anytime you are feeling blue or lonely, you can thumb through this classic collection of fond reminiscence to lift your spirits and evoke that sense of gratefulness for living a full fun-filled life. The ‘fullness’ does not necessarily mean it needs to be filled with riveting adventures or extraordinary achievements, as it is more so about taking pleasure in the sweetness of simplicity and the natural beauty of the human spirit experiencing life with curiosity and wonderment.

Sometimes it may be difficult to feel good, especially if you experience physical or emotional pain or are challenged in any specific area of your life. As we age, our bodies don’t always cooperate with our desire to be physically active. Or some days you may not feel like talking to anyone or doing anything, which is all right occasionally, however not healthy to become too isolated and detached. Perhaps it could be a hormone imbalance or nutritional deficiency. Some women choose to supplement their diet with herbs , vitamins and antioxidants to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally. I recommend taking Add Lib – a daily supplement of natural herbs , botanicals and essential vitamins to help maintain a healthy hormonal balance, calm mood, mental focus, sustained energy and renewed passion for life.

I personally take Add Lib every day and it has truly make a difference in my overall wellbeing. My friends and family often comment how much happier I seem to be in the last year or so (as long as I’ve used Add Lib). Also that I look much better now compared to how I used to be; runned down, depressed, lethargic and unmotivated. I do feel better now! I have a lot more energy, ambition and a healthy glow that others notice and frequently acknowledge.

Add Lib can be purchased in numerous retail outlets such as GNC and The Vitamin Shoppe, or found on-line at www.OceanusNaturals.com . Just 2 capsules per day can make a huge difference in how you feel and how you choose to live your life. You can settle for mediocrity or live life to its fullest and cease the moment! Regain your glow and be happy! Life is too short to waste another precious moment.

Also for men, there is a similar product called Mdrive – a daily supplement designed specifically for men looking to increase energy, strength, stamina and improve overall vitality. More info on this product at Mdrive4men.com.
