Evelyn has spent a lifetime learning about and working with plants and studying the relationships of the natural world. Her passion for 'how things work' lead her on an enlightening journey. From studying and using herbal remedies at age 15, to Qi Gong and Distance Healing, to classical Feng Shui and Labyrinth Design and Facilitation, to a native plant landscape business where she created harmonious outdoor spaces that beckoned clients and wildlife.

Twenty five years ago, Evelyn became interested in aromatherapy after noticing the all-natural products she had been buying contained questionable natural ingredients, after a little research she found that her suspicions were right - the ingredients were not the purest and in fact they were quite low quality. That is where she began her quest to search out and find the best.

She discovered essential oils were precisely what she had been looking for, but as she explains, "it was so difficult back then to find a source for essential oils."

After learning that the essential oil companies she contacted did not have the superior quality essential oils she was looking for, she bought the best she could find and began making all of her own household cleaning products.

"So many times I wanted to use my essential oils for more than simple household cleaning... I wanted to use them on my body and in cooking too. Using them in ways that you cannot use the type aromatherapy oils found in stores. I had read that if you can find a source of superior essential oils that you an in fact use them for many purposes, including using them as medicine. Because I don't use drugs, not even over-the-counter types it was extremely important to find the right oils to use this way."

It wouldn't be until 1992, when Gary Young founded Young Living Essential Oils, that superior quality essential oils would begin to find their way into mainstream America. In the late 1990's, while attending her Feng Shui class, she met a woman who was talking about essential oils and aromatherapy. Realizing that this woman knew what she was talking about, Evelyn goes on to say, "when Joan handed me a bottle of Lavender essential oil and I took one sniff... it was at that precise moment I knew I had found exactly what I had been searching for... the absolute best!"

Today Evelyn is an essential oils distributor with Young Living Essential Oils and is helping others learn through the sharing of information, how to use these very unique substances, essential oils.

"There's nothing else like this available, nothing at all. The ways we can use these essential oils is so vastly different than anything sold in stores or online that the average person has no idea what to do with them."

As Evelyn opens her large essential oil case to give me an idea of what's to unfold, the scent of over 150 different oils permeates the senses and curiosity fills my mind. As the lid fully opens, she goes on to say, "what I have right here is perhaps the best piece of wisdom I can share with anyone. I use these essential oils for absolutely everything. From cleaning my kitchen and bathroom, toilet and shower too, to flavoring foods and beverages, to replacements for any kind of medicine available in the world. If you came into my house you would see that there aren't any household cleaners, air fresheners, laundry products, or medicine, you couldn't find an aspirin in my house if your life depended on it. This oil I use for headaches, this one I use for infections, these three I use in place of antibiotics... and the list goes on and on." She asks me, "tell me what concerns you have and I'll tell you what I use instead and how I use it."

After talking with Evelyn for an hour, I realized that there is an entire world of things that we can do too. Things we can do every day that make a difference in the quality of our lives and the world around us. I am amazed and humbled by what she has just shared with me, so elegantly simple and beautiful. The wisdom of volatile plant liquids that our ancestors have used for thousands of years.
