"Satisfaction is characterized by inner peace. It arises from generosity, honesty and what I call ethical conduct, a way of behaving that respects others’ right to be happy" (extracted on 16 July 2010 from HH The Dalai Lama's Facebook wall at http://www.facebook.com/ ).
Coaching, what is it?
Definition
ICF ( http://www.coachfederation.org/
) certified coaching is based on the idea that metacognition – or being aware of one’s own thinking processes – fosters independence in learning. By providing personal insights into the learner’s own thinking processes, action-oriented cognitive coaching further encourages flexiblability, confidence, self-efficacy, and pride as meta-cognition expands.
Basic Elements
Action-oriented coaching involves the modeling of self-appraisal and the self-management of cognition by a facilitator. It also involves learner performance and reflection, internalizing, and generalizing.
Dialogue, both on the part of coach and client, is another prominent aspect of coaching. For example, in the scaffolded instruction technique, teachers and students take turns leading dialogues about texts, asking each other to predict, question, clarify, summarize, and self-appraise (Sections extracted from http://www.funderstanding.com/content/cognitive-coaching
