If we took a moment and asked ourselves, “What’s stopping me from being successful?” we might get an answer such as “I don’t know.” Well that response doesn’t really help us to understand what is blocking us from having success or being successful. In truth, most of us don’t really know what’s stopping us from being successful. Actually what typically stops most people from being successful includes excuses or limiting beliefs…, wanting to change something…, and holding onto fear or resistance.

Most people aren’t aware that they are creating their own limiting outcomes based on what they’re holding in mind. Many people are intimidated to “Think Bigger!” Usually as a result of trying to resolve something over an indefinite amount of time, we eventually gave up because we didn’t come up with a resolution or the situation remained. Then we have a tendency to move into the energy of frustration, or other limiting emotions (i.e. anger, stress, confusion, or etc.). And this cycle is something that we are doing, without realizing we are doing it. Unfortunately, we also don’t recognize that we are spending much of our time trying to figure out what to do. Figuring things out prevents us from achieving what we would like to experience. By figuring things out, we are actually moving in the opposite direction of being successful. Trying to figure out what to do, keeps us from coming up with a solution. Imagine trying to stand up. If you’ll notice in order for you to stand up, you first agreed to stand, and then made a second decision to actually stand up. Unless we made the decision to stand, we will remain seated. Please see this simple explanation of ‘trying to stand up’ similar to trying to resolve whatever you are working on. The point being made is ‘trying’ doesn’t help us to achieve the outcome we would like to have, because we in trying means we begin figuring things out, which keeps us from moving forward.
Before getting further discouraged, please see this as an opportunity to begin looking at what’s good within your current situation. Anytime we can see something as “right or good” is showing us that we are looking at things optimistically. Whatever good you see, is pointing out you that you are discerning and looking beyond the limitation. It is also revealing that you shifted your focus into the energies of courageousness, acceptance, or peace . By letting go of limiting beliefs, we can begin to experience improved outcomes. When we begin focusing on being successful, we are moving forward in a positive direction. We are gladly willing to give up feeling stuck or frustrated. We are also willing to let go of being stuck or wanting to be right.

It is easy to feel empowered by reminding ourselves that whatever we would like to achieve, IS POSSIBLE. Just by changing what we are holding in mind begins a ripple effect. Each time we approach things in a positive way, we feel better. If we hold in mind things like, “Yes, it is possible for me to lose weight… Or, “It is my intention to have a good relationship with my spouse (boss/others),” is deciding to go after what you would really like to have. How about simply deciding, “Today I’m going to make the most of everything.” Another good intention is “Today will be a wonderful day!” Each time we hold in mind good intentions we are aligning ourselves with improved outcomes.

Actually what’s good in any situation is we can easily turn the whole thing around by making better decisions! Imagine giving yourself permission to be successful. Feels nice! By looking positively at whatever we would like to have, be or do, immediately causes us to stop looking at ‘what’s wrong or not working.’ Deciding to have, be, or do something other than what we are currently experiencing, requires that we focus on having the best outcome at all times. Deciding is truly the first step towards being successful in any area of your life. “There are no limitations if we aren’t holding them in mind,” says Lester Levenson founder of the Release Technique method. He further points out that this point is a provable when we see this for ourselves. Being successful is actually a skill. Being successful begins with a decision. Same as demonstrated previously in the example of ‘trying to stand up.’ If you think you can achieve your goal(s), YOU CAN! And, if you think you can’t, you get to be right and your goal(s) will remain elusive.

Let’s experiment with this. What is it that you would like to achieve? Now, imagine having the object or experience now. Perhaps you noticed a change in your attitude . Did you notice that you felt more capable, determined or enthusiastic? Maybe you noticed you were willing or motivated to take the necessary actions to accomplish your goal(s). Another possible outcome is by changing your focus, allowed you to catch a glimpse of what you need to do in order to resolve the situation. You may have also envisioned yourself at the finish line and that your goal is completed easily and positively. Notice everything you observed about yourself included changing your focus by making a decision. Without focusing on having a positive result, or achieving your goal, how can things change?

By training ourselves to look at things in a positive manner, ensures we are having better and improved outcomes. When we stop allowing excuses or fear to intimidate what we can have or experience, we begin to feel more empowered. By letting go of excuses, fear, and other limiting points of view, we’ll see that more goodness is available to us. Change your mind, and your whole life changes. Give yourself permission to experience new things. Give yourself permission to enjoy stepping out of your comfort zone. Clearly by making a decision and letting go of negative and limiting excuses such as holding onto the fear of the unknown, or the fear of making mistakes will make things easier for you. Begin holding in mind that everything will work out Ok. Simple changes allow you to start being more successful. Make a decision to be successful in all areas of your life. Life is a decision… Only you can decide what is right for you. Decide to have all of the goodness, happiness , joy that is rightfully yours.
