You're getting older, and there's nothing you can do about it, and you hate it. Apart from anything else you're starting to get wrinkles.

Of course everyone gets wrinkles as they get older don't they? Well not necessarily.

Of course there's things you can do about it. Eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise helps improve your skin, but I'm sure that's not what you are hoping to hear.

I'm sure you're hoping to hear that the latest anti aging skin care products will work wonders for your skin.

However I have some bad news for you. It's not that skin care products don't work, although it's quite true that many don't. It's that when you use big brand name skin care products you may well be putting products on your skin that contain chemical ingredients that are known to cause cancer.

This may come as a shock to you if it's the first time you've become aware of it. Unfortunately it's true and there are whole organisations set up purely to publicise this fact. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is one, set up to publicise the proliferation of dangerous chemical ingredients in so many of our personal products including skin care products, cosmetics and much more.

This has com into the news recently when a spokesman for the FDA announced that some skin care products the sale in the US, both online and in the stores, contain Mercury, often at concentrations up to thousands of times greater than allowable.

You'll be very familiar with the health risks of Mercury, including damaging your brain.

It's not just Mercury, there is in fact a wide range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients in many personal products including skin care products, some of which are known to cause cancer. Unfortunately the government does little to regulate this.

Mercury is only the most recent example of such an ingredient. There has also been publicity over the last few years about lead in lipsticks. The list of dangerous ingredients found in big brand name products goes on on.

So if you're getting older and you're getting wrinkly, don't just reach for that big brand-name skin care range on the shelves, do a little research first. There are some excellent natural skin care products available made by reputable companies striving to produce high-quality (and highly effective) skin care products that do not contain any nasty chemical ingredients, and which are comprised of natural, plant based ingredients.
