The vertical leg crunch maneuver is done by similarly laying flat on your back this time placing both hands behind your head supporting it. Like the Reverse crunch both legs are crossed at the ankles. You then lift both legs in the air and pull the body in an upward motion towards the knees. This motion will result in contracting the abdominal muscles as you exhale while contracting and inhale upon returning to the starting position.

Using an exercise ball sit on the ball ensuring both feet are flat on the ground. Then recline the body backward still on the ball keeping both thighs and torso area parallel to the ground. Exhale as you contract your abdominal muscles and lift your torso, inhaling as you return to the starting position.
