...and other truths you need to know.

It would be so great if we could only cling to the truth and the truth is you are not fat. You're probably thinking, "Hey, you don't know me and I think I'm pretty fat." And I would reply, fat is extra flesh which lies under the skin (known as visceral fat) and you may have a bunch of that under your skin but it is not who you are. In this article, I'm going to outline a few truths about you and some steps for making positive changes in how you see and identify yourself.

As a yoga teacher, it's my job to help people become more self-aware. My teachers helped me and I continue to pass on the message that you are a unique and wonderful being created for a purpose. That purpose is to evolve into your greatest potential and to help others do the same through your gifts and talents (serve).

So rather than identify yourself as "fat", maybe you could begin to see yourself as pure potential. A pearl, which when cultivated, shines irridescent and is smooth and beautiful.

This article is not about losing weight, nor is it about whether or not you are "chubby". It's about seeing the truth for what it is and identifying with that truth.

Here are 5 truths to help you see whether or not you need to make some positive changes in your outlook.

Truth #1 - You are a unique and special child of God. There is only one you and you are loved and sought after by the great Spirit. There is no one like you and never on this earth will there be another you. Get this one truth embedded in your consciousness and your life will change for the better.

Truth #2 - Whatever you were given in terms of DNA, personality tendencies, gifts and talents has been given to you for a reason. Your nature is unique to you and it's your job to discover your true nature. It will be revealed to you through self study and study of the creator.

Truth #3 - When you focus on the creator of the universe and the verticle relationship between you and (Him), you will discover the plans that were made for you and you can begin to shut out all the negative voices that creep into your mind and move forward with your life in confidence. Focus takes time but it is worth it!

Truth #4 - There is not one person nor has there ever been (no not one) who is perfect. Perfection is an illusory concept and we are not to try and be perfect. That means we all have wrong thoughts and deeds at one time or another. Believing we are perfect is just as bad as believing we are totally flawed. Believing lies about ourselves is one way we get trapped. Trapped means no freedom. Stick with the truth.

Truth #5 - You can evolve into the person you want to be and your visceral fat has nothing to do with that. You just need to ask for help, guidance and co-create your reality with God.

Now that you have these 5 truths, and you no longer believe you are "fat" what will you do? Here are 6 tips to help you increase your joy and connect more deeply with your true nature:

1) Pray for guidance every day.
2) Accept yourself for who you are. LOVE yourself!
3) Begin a course of self-study
4) Learn how to eat seasonally and for good health
5) Exercise moderately - walks, yoga , zumba - do what is fun and not hard work!
6) Get outside yourself and serve others.

Give those a try and see if you begin to see yourself the way I do - as a pearl - shiny and new.
