So what happens when you're cruising in the luxury cabin of your life train and it stops at Transition Station? Get this, the conductor boots you off the train and dumps your Louis Vuitton set at your feet. You search your pockets and purse for your tickets and itinerary but they both have mysteriously disappeared along with your wallet. So now what do you do? You are standing alone, behind a mountain of baggage at Transition Station with no idea of where you are going, how you will get there and no American Express even though you never leave home without it.

STOP! Cue the chorus of angels and foggy mist sweeping through the platforms. Here comes the cavalry! Hopefully you have supportive family and friends who lend a hand. However, when you find yourself at one of those transition stations, a transitional life coach can be just what the doctor ordered to help you find your way objectively while at the same time you're feeling safe and nurtured in the process.

Here are a few suggestions if you find yourself already at Transition Station or if you know it's your next stop:

1. Breathe - Stop what you are doing right now and take a deep breath in and out, and another, and a third, heck grab an oxygen tank if necessary. Deep breathing helps you get back in tune with your own inner guidance and allows your body to start releasing the stress and anxiety that you are feeling.

2. List it! - There is a reason why you are going through these changes now, but you don't have to know the reasons. Just realize that you are receiving a great gift of opportunity now. So, pull out your journal, grab your favorite pen, set your timer for 10 minutes and write down everything that you love, makes you happy and/or you dream of doing. The rule here is to let your imagination guide your pen. Once the timer goes off, read your list and after each item say, "I now have the opportunity to have this. Thank you."

3. You time - Many life transitions can be difficult so it's time to pamper yourself. Scary thought, isn't it, especially if you spent most of your life taking care of other people. That's all changed now that you are at Transition Station. When you put yourself first and take the time to nurture all parts of yourself, you are letting the Universe know that you are worthy to be, do or have anything you want. (Refer to your list.) So, book your spa appointments, go to a comedy club or see a laugh out loud funny movie, try that new restaurant and let your dog pick the path for your next walk. Just remember to love yourself along the way.

4. Attitude of Gratitude - This one can be tough especially if a bulldozer trashed the road behind you but remember that things are not always what they appear to be. What you might perceive as dark times are in reality gifts. I know what you're thinking, "Can I exchange them?" Not a chance. You received these gifts whether you remember asking for them or not. So go to the center of Transition Station. Stand up on one of the benches and shout out for all to hear, "I am grateful for this time of transition in my life. I am grateful for all the opportunities that will come way. Thank you."

5. Call in the Cavalry - You don't have to navigate your way through Transition Station by yourself. You are never alone even if it feels like it. You have friends and family to help you along the way and of course your transitional life coach. We all go through transitions of different magnitudes throughout our lives; the key is to see the opportunities that transition presents to us and the new doors that will open for us.

Keep in mind -it's not the destination, it's the journey. All aboard!
