Yes, honey, it is true…
Everyone around you, well, if they are norms anyway, wants you to just fit into their little narrow box…
They want you to conform, to play nice, to be nice, to be whatever they want you to be, to keep them comfortable…
You may think it is because your loved ones love you but it is not…
It is because it keeps them feeling good when they can predict everything and everyone in their life and so suddenly you come along like a loose cannon, giving them new ideas about whoever knows what and frankly, you are upsetting the balance and YOU MUST BE STOPPED!
And leader, they will do whatever it takes to stop you…
Not consciously, mind you…
OH NO?! They are too normlike to realise that they are killing off your dreams . Some are even deluded enough to think that they are encouraging you with their little caring voices asking firstly if it is possible for you to work this hard without a breakdown…
Telling you to take a break, you have done enough and you almost believe them…
Asking you to clarify this part of your vision and that part just so that they can get their heads round it and understand it and support you (As if you need them to understand but at the start, you want support and so you don’t realise what is happening so you share your dream enthusiastically and they demean it just as enthusiastically)
They then start to ask you if it is really possible for you to make your dreams come to pass…
They wonder what is taking you so long…
They tell you stories of this person and that person who did not manage it and how their family suffered while they tried…
They try to divert your attention to some other lesser path by telling you of how some person kept up their normal life while building their dream life…
And when that does not work, (the quiet attempts to destroy your confidence, while supposedly supporting you…)
Then in come the big guns – the manipulation, the emotional destruction of your confidence…
The telling you that you cannot possibly care for them if you are acting this way…
You are not christian enough if you are being THIS selfish…
Complaining about the stuff you are not doing around the house…
Complaining that you do not have time to see them anymore and obviously that must mean you do not love them anymore…
If things are really bad, they will even recruit others to tell you that you are way off base…
And you will randomly have people from every nook and cranny coming up to give you their opinion…
And all the while this is going on, you are trying to focus, trying to get work done, second guessing yourself, getting pulled off track as you enter one drama or the other…
And most wannabe entrepreneurs and leaders cannot handle the pressure and so give into it.
They give up their dreams and live a life of quiet, angry, regret and desperation as they think of all that could have been but they are now swallowed up by the normness around them and they lose!
So leader, if you want to win, you are going to have CUT THESE PEOPLE OFF!
Like a malignant tumour, you CUT IT OUT!
No mercy!
You are going to have to protect yourself because no one else will…
Pay money, if necessary, to CUT THEM OFF!
And even as I write this, I know you might think that I am exaggerating but really, am I?
Maybe, if you are lucky and you have a particularly supportive family and group of friends then maybe… just maybe, you are safe from the nonsense…
But for most of us, winners, we are surrounded by norms and they may even live in your house, if you are particularly unlucky…
And it will be hard to know whether you are simply going crazy and being incredibly selfish for following your vision and creating the business you see in your mind’s eye because these are people who love you, right?!
Or maybe even people you look up to!
Telling you that you are way off base…
And so you will begin to doubt yourself if you do not CUT THEM OFF!
And LEADER, you are not crazy and not selfish, you are simply entrepreneur …
Entrepreneur that wants to change things…
To make things happen and they are threatened by this…
They do not understand how you can think this is possible…
They are scared because it is unfamiliar and they worry that you will take them down with you or that you will no longer be able to do the things they want you to do for them…
And you will not be.
Because honey, the chances are you have been manipulated for a very long time…
Because everyone else has always seen your strength and capability…
And they have wanted to harness it for their own agenda…
Not consciously, mind you! (Unless you do have a VERY MANIPULATIVE person in your midst)
And so now, you are doing something different…
They can no longer control you…
And they hate it!
HATE IT!
And they are too norm-like to even realise WHY THEY HATE IT!
And so you have a choice – keep letting them play with your head or CUT THEM OFF!
Which will it be, leader?
Because it is your choice!
Do you want to win or not?
I know, I know, you want to believe you can talk them round…
You want to believe that there is some middle ground way of working this stuff out but there is not!
And you can try to do it…
You can put your work on hold while you try but that is EXACTLY what they want you to do…
They want to distract you…
To keep you away from your work…
To keep you focused on their nonsense…
And you think they are coming around as you try and try to get stuff sorted out with them…
But they play this game far better than you do, honey and the moment you allow them to set the terms of the game, YOU LOSE!
CUT THEM OFF!
Emotionally detach from them now and maybe, later on, when you have won, there will be room to make clear decisions about where the boundaries are so you can let them back in ON YOUR TERMS!
Of course, it is harder if they are a partner living with you and eating away at your confidence…
In that case, you stop talking about your business.
Literally!
You walk out the room if they even bring it up…
And yes, you will seethe inside for a while because you do desperately want the peron who loves you to support and trust you…
So, yes, expect to hurt for a while…
But then if you both want to, you will figure out how to move forward while you do what you have to do and they do their own thing too.
But honey, YOU MUST WIN!
YOU MUST KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN AND KEEP DOING THE WORK…
Whatever is going on around you, you cannot let it stop you doing your work, living out your dreams because honey, one of the best ways to prove them all wrong and silence the norm voices is simply to WIN!
And then, you can start to have any crazy conversations from a position of strength…
Not this place where you are still trying to figure out if you ARE CRAZY for trying to make your dreams come to pass…
You don’t need their craziness in your head as well…

Smile, and walk away as they get more and more frothy at the mouth…
Refuse to engage and literally cut them off if they do not live with you!
You need all your energy for the work.
Get to it, leader!
You have lives to impact and money to make…
Let them talk, let them try to make you conform from somewhere FAR, FAR, AWAY from you…
Keep your eyes on the goal.
Of course they do not get you…
They are already completely unhappy with their own life…
Why do you think they will get you?
