Whenever we are going through rough times, we need to be careful of what we do and who we depend on. Whenever we have had a bad day and just want to unwind, we need to make good choices about what we do to help us feel better. Whenever we are searching for that special something or someone to make us feel better, we need to be careful about what we begin to depend on to get us through it all.

We have to be careful about not depending on the things of the world to help us make it through one more day or night. We have to be careful not to depend on others who may lead us down the wrong path in an attempt to help us get our minds off of our problems. We need to be careful not to depend on food or drink to help us feel comfort from our pain.

It is common for us to search for something to do when we have had a bad day that will take our minds off of things. It is common for us to want to go home or some other place to get away from what we have had to deal with all day. It is common for us to want to search for peace in a bottle, get distracted from our lives by watching television or look for comfort from another person.

Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.”

However, the answer to our problems and the way to get relief from the stress in the day is not through the things of the world or through other people who may let us down or lead us astray. God is the only source who can give us comfort and peace . So many times we go to everyone and everything but God and then wonder why we still aren’t happy. We wonder why we still can’t find peace . We wonder why our situations just don’t change.

Whenever we are going through rough times and we decide to reach for something or someone, we need to reach for God. We need to reach for His word to help us through the tough times. We need to reach for His hand to guide us through the rough times. We need to reach for His love and His peace to give us the comfort we need to ride the rough storms.

Whenever we have had a bad day and we go home or somewhere else to unwind, we need to go to God. We need to go to His special place He has for us where we can be still and listen to Him. We need to go to Him and give Him our thoughts and our concerns so He can help us sort things out. Excessive food and drink will give us only temporary pleasure and do nothing but hurt our health and keep us going in circles continuing to look for peace.

Whenever we are searching for that special something or someone to make us feel better, we need to go to God. God can give us His word and His peace if we will only go to Him, obey Him and have faith He can make things in our lives more bearable. He may not eliminate what issues we have with but He will help us deal with those things and use them for His glory so we can make a difference.

Our dependency should be on God rather than the things of the world or in others who may not have our best interest in mind. Our dependency should be on what God wants rather than what the world believes we should do. When we are going the bad times in life, we need to go to God rather than try to find peace in a world full of sin. Sin does not give us the answers God wants us to have and sin cannot help us to make the difference God wants us to make.

James 4:4 “Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.”
