How do you define success?

According to Marissa Peer, “Success is not about making more money and having lots of status symbols, it’s about inner peace , liking yourself and being happy doing what inspires you.” Further, she defines, “Success is about making a contribution and accomplishing something.”

Does this resonate with you?

How about the following:

Bob Proctor shares that success is, “Making a decision that you are going to get there and move toward it.” This sentence is powerful because once you have made the decision, believe you can get there and commit to it you are halfway there. Belief is a critical step. Imagining your success creates an image that inspires you and keeps you going forward.

“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal,” a famous quote by Earl Nightingale. Note “progressive” and “worthy.” Life unfolds and when we are successful, we come closer and closer to what we consider worth fighting for. This means it must be aligned with what we value.

Many people hope for success to find happiness and as Albert Schweitzer points out, “Success is not the key to happiness . Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”

“The man who has done his level best, and who is conscious that he has done his best, is a success, even though the world may write him down as a failure,” by B.C. Forbes. Knowing we did our best regardless of what others think, gives us peace , confidence and helps us to stay inspired to keep trying. No one but you knows if you did your best. Don't let other peoples’ opinions affect you. We can always do our best regardless of the external circumstances.

For me, the word BETTER is synonym with success.

For example, success is:
» Feeling better, enjoying improved health and wellbeing, and physical fitness
» Performing better in sports, singing or public speaking
» Getting better results at work and in your business
» Building better and deeper relationships

For me, success, especially in competitive areas of my life like sports or work, is not about being better than the other person. It’s about performing better than I did yesterday. Measuring my progress, comparing it to myself and then looking at all the steps I successfully conquered already, is a marvellous feeling of success. When I measure success this way I stay inspired, better my skills and practice gratitude . All of this impacts my personal and business vitality, my connections with others and my surroundings.
