Should I think positively or stop expecting things?...Why not do both?

To think positive does not mean expecting only good and good things to happen in any situation. The outcome is not in our hands, but positivity is!

For example, say your exam results are due. Now, thinking positive does not mean you keep expecting that “My result’s gonna be the best, it will be the best!” No, this cannot change your results; on the contrary a bad result could disappoint you miserably and bring you to this juncture that, “Should I think positive or stop expecting things?” Positive thinking means, “No matter what the result is, I will accept it. Whatever happens, is always for good. In case I do not fare well in my exams this time, I will improve on my mistakes and work harder to get a better result next time.”

Positive thinking is a mental attitude that is filled with optimism, due to which one is always drawn towards the positive aspects of a situation. One’s focus is always on the path ahead and his behaviour is always in favour of progress and well-being of everyone!
Positive thinking keeps us happy, healthy, successful and good. Whereas expectations make us feel uneasy and keep us overall dissatisfied and unhappy.

Having expectations,
●You are always living in an unfulfilled future and ignoring the pleasant present!
●Although you have no control over the outcome, you are found stuck in the spiral of never-ending expectations and get consumed with continuous uncertainty.
●Rather than simply enjoying things as they are, you are busy trying to constantly adapt to things so that they can help meet your expectations.
●To meet your expectations, you lie, cheat or be dishonest. Expectations inevitably lead to adverse emotions like anger, frustration, deceitful behaviour, endless greed or annoyance.
●You will almost certainly at some stage be disappointed.
●It creates gulf in your relationships when your expectations don’t get fulfilled.
●It gives rise to conflicts, arguments and hostility between people.
●You unnecessarily bury yourself in grief and not allow joy and happiness to enter your life.

Instead, striving to think and remain positive has loads of advantages to offer:

●You become open and broad minded and automatically the Universe begins to embrace you.
●You encounter hardly any conflicts in life as you are more willing to adapt to people and circumstances.
●People like being around you as your positive demure will have an encouraging effect on others. You see good things in others and which in itself engenders goodness.
●Positive thinking opens your senses to beauty and love amongst all that surrounds you. You become more understanding and are able to notice every minute thing around you.
●You are able to face any situation, be it good and bad with ease, and can accept success and failure, joy and sadness, love and disappointment in its fullness. This keeps you happy and stress-free throughout the day, throughout your life.
●Nature will support you. You become healthier, and your well-being and positive mind-set will only improve.
●Gives you a flexible mind-set that allows you to find solutions to problems very quickly.

So, when things do not turn out the way you hoped, avoid negative self-talk at all times, cultivate optimism and most important let go of expectations. Instead, be grateful for the wonderful moments you got to experience and learn from that particular person or situation in the case. This will fill you with serenity rather than resentment.

Power of positivity from a spiritual perspective:The fact is that no situation or person in this world is really good or bad, it is only our valuation that makes us look at things in a certain way; it is a creation of our own mind, based on our beliefs and the opinions we have formed in past, on account of our experiences and environment. Positive thinking helps us become non-judgemental and flexible and keeps us happy in every situation and with any person whosoever we happen to meet in life.

By being positive rather than being consumed by expectations, one binds good karmas for next life because being positive focuses on the intent to not hurt any living being by thought, deed or speech. In contrast, having expectations will lead to bad karma, because the very source from where expectations arise is the core negative set of emotions of anger, pride, deceit and greed.

So, if you are seeking bliss and peace , always think positive. And if you are looking for constant bliss, adopt Akram Vignan, the most practical spiritual science of today, which introduces us to our real Self, through the medium of the most genuinely positive person in this world i.e. the Living Gnani, the Enlightened One. He helps us attain our ultimate goal of life i.e. liberation from all sufferings and thus makes us positive in the real sense!!
