I want change and I want it now!!!!! I want the room to be organized, the fat to melt off, the winning lottery ticket...

Living in a culture of immediate gratification, it's a challenge for many of us to stay on track for more than 5 minutes. If we don't see substantial quick and easy results, we want to give up and label ourselves as failures or blame someone or something else.

This is what is dubbed "All or Nothing." It's the extreme approach to change and guess what? It doesn't work most of the time.

What is the recipe for lasting change? The ingredients are consistency and persistence.

Let's look at aviation. Pilots have a flight path they follow to go from point A to point B. If they deviate by even one degree early on in the flight, they can end up in a very different destination. One degree doesn't seem like anything compared to a dramatic side-angled turn, but it yields long-term results that are monumental.

One little shift can make a world of difference over time. Cutting out cookies after 6PM. Walking up stairs instead of taking the elevator. Saying one kind word to your spouse or child everyday.

Over time, with consistency and persistence, one little degree can dramatically change your future.
