Dentists often have no idea why they aren’t getting enough patients. They go about their business and treat the patients they have, but they don’t realize why they could be losing more. If you see your days fairly empty of patients, but the Do treatment as fast as possible. Dentist around the corner is sending you their overflow, you might want to consider what you might be doing wrong.

What is the No. 1 reason why you aren’t getting the patients? You aren’t doing enough marketing or the right marketing.

Here are some ideas that could improve your marketing.

Proper website -- Some dentists or doctors do not see the need to have a website or they use an ineffective one. This is a flawed attitude . People looking for a dentist are doing so through the Internet. They use their smart phones, tablets, laptops and computers to search for the right dentist. If you have no website or an ineffective one, you will not get the patients who are searching online for the right dentist. An ear, nose and throat doctor in Tampa Bay region does not have a website and his staff members do not see a need to have one. They base their business on referrals from other doctors and for being on the umbrella health organization’s website. This works somewhat, but the doctor could get many more patients by having his own website.
Actual results versus perceived results -- Patients have an idea in their heads on what they think their dental treatment should be. The dentist also has an idea. Sometimes these do not match. You need to ensure you give the patients what they want, not what you think they want. You need to build a relationship over time to keep your patients happy and coming back. You can market this by asking happy patients to post reviews on Google reviews.
Ease of doing business -- You can sell toothbrushes that you recommend your patients use so they can buy them right there. You can offer floss, floss machines, rinses and more to the patient. Hair salons do this type of marketing quite effectively. If you added products to your offerings, you will have happier patients and make more money. These patients will tell their friends how convenient you are. This will lead to more patients.
Money issues -- You have to be able to market your practice as the place where money isn’t a problem. For example, if you allow your patients to pay in two payments for procedures, you might be able to add 12 payments instead of two. This will help patients who are short on funds and is marketable if your competitors only allow two. You also can work with third-party companies that provide financing to help your patients. Although being affordable is not something you want to promote, your patients will want the convenience of paying for procedures whatever way they can.
Join the community -- Get involved in community events. These are things that market you and everyone else in the area. You can post these events on your social media. You also get to meet the people in the neighborhood who would be your new patients. Ask people what they expect from a dentist. Find out what keeps them from going to the dentist or why they might not like their current dentist. Ask what would they want from a dentist that they don’t get right now. Get your practice known by community leaders by attending and getting vendor tables in the community events.
Social media -- Today everyone is on social media. You want to have a Facebook page and other social media. Choose the ones that will help you the most because you don’t have time to be on all of them. Also, all of them would not be helpful to you. Join the groups on social media that would bring you patients. You don’t want to be on a group of dentists, but a group of moms who give advice on medical care. These will be the people who will tell you what issues are keeping people from dentists. You can post comments and answer questions on these groups. Soon, you’ll be seen as an expert and the right dentist to visit.
