If you are a Law of Attraction fan, you are probably familiar with Abraham's emphasis on moving up the Emotional Scale to attract what you want into your life. For the benefit of the uninitiated, let me just give a brief rundown of what the Emotional Scale is.

What is the Emotional Scale?

The Emotional Scale is simply a range of emotions we are capable of experiencing from the most positive emotion - Joy/Appreciation/Love to the most negative - Fear/ Grief /Powerlessness.

The Emotional Scale

1. Joy/Appreciation/Empowered/Freedom/Love

2. Passion

3. Enthusiasm/Eagerness/ Happiness

4. Positive Expectation/Belief

5. Optimism 6. Hopefulness

7. Contentment

8. Boredom

9. Pessimism

10.Frustration/Irritation/Impatience

11.Overwhelment

12.Disappointment

13.Doubt

14.Worry

15.Blame

16.Discouragement

17.Anger

18.Revenge

19.Hatred/Rage

20.Jealousy

21.Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness

22.Fear/Grief/ Depression /Despair/Powerlessness

Depending on where we are on the scale, we will attract people and circumstances that resonate on the same scale as our most habitual emotion. For instance, if we are consistently feeling powerless, we are bound to attract negative people and situations that make us keep us trapped in this state of powerlessness. On the other hand, if our dominant emotion is that of appreciation, we are more likely to encounter positive situations that evoke the same feelings. We create our lives from the inside out, not outside in.

Choose Better Feeling Thoughts

So in order to attract what we want into our lives, we need to shift our emotions from one at a lower scale (eg. guilt) to a higher scale (eg. anger) by consciously changing our thoughts from a negative to a more positive one. The founders of the Law of Attraction teachings tell us that we can do this by deliberately choosing better feeling thoughts each time we feel bad about any particular subject, until we move from a lower emotional state to a higher one. By adopting this approach, it is possible to climb out of states of despair into optimism, enthusiasm or even joy.

Emotional Release Techniques...An Easier Way To Climb The Emotional Scale

However I find that this is not an easy task, especially when we are at a very low place on the Emotional Scale. This is because when we are in the depths of a very strong emotion such as anger or fear, our desire to think better feeling thoughts are almost non-existent. Our focus tends to be solely on the object of our anger and our angry feelings. From my experience, it is much easier to let go of very strong emotions by applying certain emotional release techniques. These methods allow us to 'indulge' in our bad feelings while releasing it at the same time. Then when we have let go of strong negative feelings, thinking better feeling thoughts become a breeze. In fact, when our negative feelings have been fully released, good feelings like hope, appreciation and joy simply flow into our consciousness, without much conscious effort on our part. Moving up the Emotional Scale can never be easier.

Our Real Nature Is Joy

In my opinion, this is because our real nature is joy. We are joyous beings from birth. All other lower emotional states are caused by wrong thought patterns and behavior that we unconsciously learn from our environment. But every time we release our negative feelings, we allow our joyous self to re-emerge. When we can consistently experience good feelings, any action that we offer is more likely to bring the desired outcome. In such states of emotional well-being, our external circumstances MUST change.
