I remember when I worked in the Olympic Movement, as the Chief Press Officer for the women's softball competition at the 2008 and 2004 Summer Olympics in Beijing and Athens, respectively. Back in our world headquarters building there was a small, rather indistinct sign in one of the offices that said, "What have you done to promote softball today?"
I initially was bothered by that, thinking, "That's what *I'M* here for. The others in the office have different jobs that they're here for. *I'M* the PR guy, though." But the idea was that we could all contribute.
In our faith life, we shouldn't just sit back and say, "Spreading the word of God is just the job of the priests, not me, not us." We ALL can tell others of the Good News. We might not be THE guy -- the pope, a cardinal, a bishop, a priest, etc. -- but together we can all contribute in some way.
Being in community we can further the Kingdom through whatever methods, whatever channels are available to us, each according to our own talents.
Isaiah chapter 12 verse 4 says, "Give thanks to the Lord, acclaim his name; Among the nations make known his deeds, proclaim how exalted is his name."
