Psalm 119:4-5 “You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully. Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!”

When we wake up in the morning, we possibly think that we would like to do something we don’t have to do. We may wish we could stay in bed another hour or so. We may wish we didn’t have to go to work or to school. We may want to take time to do something fun or spontaneous. But then we realize that we have to get up and get ready for another day.

But it’s not just another day. It’s a day we can decide that we can make a difference in our lives or in the lives of others. It’s a day we can start a new project, we can move one step closer to our goals or we can say a kind word to someone who we have trouble being nice to. We can make the decision if we want today to be just another day or if we want to make it different.

How we decide to make the day is how it will happen. We can stop now and take time to read God’s word and talk to Him about what we should do the rest of the day. It’s never too late to make the day different. If our day starts out blah or boring, we can decide anytime during the day to make it different. If our day starts out with problems and issues, we can decide right now to turn our attitude around. We can stop and ask God to help us and He will.

If God has placed something on our minds we need to be doing at home, at work or anywhere, today is just the day to get started. Why don’t we think about what our next steps should be, write them down and do the first step today? Getting started or taking that next step can turn just another day into something different and exciting.

No matter how our day started or how it is right this minute, make today a day that is different. Make today that day we do something different to help someone. Make today that day we stop thinking about doing something and actually take action. If there are barriers about what we can do because of time, resources or money, we need to write those barriers down and pray asking God to help us through them.

God can take what we believe will never work and make it work. We first must believe in Him and that He can do things we can’t. We must believe He can give us strength to do things we haven’t even created in our minds. God knows what we are capable of and that we can do more than we think we can if we will only give it all to Him. If we step out and take action, God will be with us if we go to Him first in prayer and ask Him what we need to do.

Taking a step toward a goal God wants us to do can make just another day become an opportunity to do something great for Him. Doing something different will make us feel different about ourselves and the day so when we lay our heads down on the pillow tonight, we can know that it was not just another day. We will know today was a day that we chose to go to God and allow Him to work through us so we could make a difference.

Acts 20:24 “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”
