Everyone gets busy with their own things to do. We all have priorities and spend time doing what we feel is important throughout the day. We make our own decisions whether we are going to work, if we are going to exercise, if we are going to have a good attitude about things and if we are going to spend time with God each day.

Matthew 6:21 “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”

The question we need to ask ourselves is how happy are we with the decisions and the choices we make. We need to really think about how we spend our time and if the time we spend is where God wants us to spend it. We probably think that what we are doing is important or we don’t really know how to get out of our routines. However, if our heart is in making a change and we go to God, He will take control and make it happen.

For example, if we believe we are in a routine at home every morning that we can’t get out of because of our obligations to work and to others then we are just using that part of the day as an excuse not get closer to God. We can go to Him asking Him what we need to change and move to another part of the day so we can spend more time with Him. We could get up earlier. We could do more preparation at night for the next day. God will give us His answer.

If we think we are too busy at work during the day to take a break or we have a lot of things to do at lunch that we don’t have time for God, we need to ask Him what we should do to create time during the day to get away from our job and spend time with Him. He can help us calm ourselves during the day and refocus on His purpose for us.

At night, when come home exhausted from the day, we may believe we can’t possibly fit in another thing to do other than what we do; however, we need to ask God to show us the time we spend on other things that is meaningless to Him. There are times at night when we are probably doing something that brings no value to God. We should ask God how we can use our time at night to help or reach out to others.

The weekends can be productive or not depending on the choices we make. There is always something going on where a charity organization is having a fundraiser or two where anyone can get involved. There are communities in dire need of assistance from anyone who can make the choice to show they care. Our weekends are prime time to spend helping others as God sees fit.

It’s just a matter of time when it comes to making a difference. It’s a matter of where our priorities are, what choices we make and what time we want to commit to God and to others. It’s just a matter of time when we choose to take 30 minutes to help out in a community or charity . It’s just a matter of time when we can set an example for God to others.

The person we choose to ignore or the whispering instructions of God that we tend to overlook can be a missed opportunity for us and others. It’s just a matter of time when we will no longer be on this earth and can longer make the difference God intended us to make. Time is really all we have. We are all guaranteed a certain amount of time on earth. It is up to us to spend it as God wants us to.

Yes, we do need time for ourselves to unwind, but we need more time for God to lift us up so He can use us as He created us to be. We have opportunities morning, noon and night. We have time on the weekend. It only takes a small commitment of time by a large number of people to make a difference to many others. We need to ask ourselves where our treasure lies, where we spend the most time and let God take over in these areas so He can use us as His example to others and so He can make a difference.

Ecclesiastes 8:5-6 “Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to do what is right, for there is a time and a way for everything, even when a person is in trouble.”
