Everything You Need to Know About Indian Rummy Game
There are many different types of games in the world today. A lot of games also have different variations. The Indian Rummy Game is a Variation of the card game. Some other variations of the Rummy game include gin rummy and Rummy 500. The Indian Rummy Game is a sort of cross between these 2 variations. The Rummy 500 can be played by 2 to 8 players, the gin rummy can be played by only 2 players, while the Indian Rummy Game can be played by 2 to 6 players. Furthermore, as opposed to the Rummy 500 game where 7 cards can be distributed to each player when there are a higher number of players, 13 cards are distributed to each player irrespective of the number of players. The fun and pleasure from winning an Indian Rummy Game has made it a popular offline and online game in India and many other countries.
Objective of the Game
The objective of the Indian Rummy game is similar to that of the general Rummy. However, the number of cards that is distributed to every player in the Indian Rummy game is 13. This is the only difference between the Indian version and the standard version. The game is aimed at being the first to meld all you card into sets and/or sequences alone. Once you have achieved this, you declare or submit. If there are just 2 players and your declaration is right, you win the game and the other player loses. If on the other hand, your declaration was a false alarm, you lose and the other player wins. When the number of players are more than 2, a wrong declaration will lead to the loss of 80 points and exemption from the rest of the game as the remaining players continue to battle for the first to have the required cards to declare a win. When there is a valid win and the players are more than 2, their points are calculated to rank them.
How Many People Can Play the Indian Rummy Game?
The Indian Rummy Game can be played by between 2 and 6 players. When only 2 players are playing the game, 2 card decks are required. However, when the number of players exceed 2, 3 card decks is required. Thirteen cards are distributed to each player when the game starts. By changing cards with the open or closed deck, they get the opportunity to meld their cards into sets and/or sequences that are valid.
What does Set and Sequence Mean in the Indian Rummy Game?
A set represents 3 or more cards of the same number of differentsuits or symbolswith a particular player. For example, A with the heart symbol, A with the club symbol and A with the spade symbol, among the cards of a particular player is a set. On the other hand, a sequence is when the player has 3 or more cards with sequential numbers and the same suit or symbol. For example, a 3, 4, 5 card with the same diamond symbol is a sequence. It is worthy of note that a set cannot be more than 4 cards, since there are only 4 different types of suits in a card deck. You cannot because 2 card decks are being used, have the same card suit in a set. A set must consist of a maximum of 1 heart suit, I club suit, 1 spade suit and 1 diamond suit. Thus, a set can only be either 3 or 4 cards; no more, no less.
During the course of the game, each player has the opportunity to change a card that differs the most from his set of cards, with the hope of getting a card that will be able to form a set or sequence with the game that he is holding.
Difference Between Pure and Impure Sequence
There are 2 types of sequences. There is the pure sequence and the impure sequence. In the case of the pure sequence, it means that you have the same suit of card in sequential number. For example, 2, 3, 4, 5, all with the heart suit. The cards have to be a minimum of 3 cards. It can be more than 3 cards. For the Impure suit, you could use a wild card or joker to make up for a missing sequential number. For example, if a particular card type was selected as a joker, you can use it to replace any number. If number 8 with heart suit was selected to be a wild joker and you have a cards of 2, 3 and 5, all with diamondsuit, you can use the 8 to replace the 4. This will however, be an impure sequence.
