Overcoming shyness will change your life. It did for me and it has for lots of other people too. So you might as well be the next person to shed this issue and get on living a life that pleases you.
Overcoming shyness really will help you see life from a new perspective. Almost as good as getting a new pair of glasses that take your eyes from dim and fuzzy to bright and clear.
For me when I was suffering from shyness I had a very different viewpoint of life. One that was uninspiring and almost lifeless.
Yes overcoming shyness IS a big deal. So let's get started.
First of all I want to point out that shyness is a form of low self-esteem and it can hold you back from experiencing life to its fullest.
Shyness can show up in a lot of different areas of your life. Like your ability to get and keep a job. Or your willingness to go to your 10 year class reunion. Maybe you feel compelled to go to college or open a business but for some reason you keep holding yourself back.
Well it might be a combination of low self-esteem and shyness. You feel incapable and afraid to be yourself.
Let me help you break free from your shyness and (as a bonus) help build your self-esteem .
First of all you must see yourself as you are…no better but no worse either. You’re just acting out of fear from not knowing yourself completely and what you’re truly capable of.
Let me show you how to move past the fear and anxiety that keeps you stuck in the same old negative patterns that you experience day in and day out.
Here is a list of the top five things you can do to overcome shyness and build your self-esteem.
1. Get to know yourself really well.
I’m not talking about your hair color, your shoes size or your height. I’m taking about what excites you. What keeps you up at night when everyone else is sleeping? I want you to go deep inside and really get to know who you are.
2. List five people, places or things that bring your shyness front and center.
You know who/what they are. These certain things or people make you feel uncomfortable, uneasy and they make your palms sweat. Once you have them down on paper, I want you to confront one of those shyness triggers every week. Until you no longer feel shy. That's right, I'm taking you out of your comfort zones here. You'll thank me later.
3. Talk back to everyone who talks to you.
No, not like a sassy 13 year old girl. But if someone greets you or ask you a question I want you to verbally answer. Just say “hi” the next time someone says hi to you. Yes out loud. Don’t JUST smile, I want you to speak too.
4. Go to the next party, event or casual gathering you get invited to.
You know the home parties that you get invited to every week - MaryKay, Pampered Chief, Lia Sophia, etc. No you don’t? Well then it’s a perfect opportunity to break out of your shell and host a party of your own. Find a local distributor (selling anything you'd like to get some free stuff of) and get ready to test your shyness. This step may actually help you find out just how shy you really are. And why would that be a good thing? Because knowing where you are sets you up to know where you want to be. Hey, you can't fix what you won't acknowledge.
5. Have at least two conversations a week with yourself in the mirror.
WHAT?! Do it. Watch yourself move and see what your body language is saying. Does it scream, “I’M SHY!,I'M SHY!” You need to stop giving off that shyness signal to yourself and everyone around you.
Okay so now you have a few tools to help you conquer shyness. And I want you to share your results with the rest of us. Yes this is another shyness breaker. Leave a comment below and tell us what you learned or unlearned by following these steps.
Trust me if you honestly do these five steps your shyness will disappear. You might even forget that you were even shy. That would be a good thing.
And another bonus here is that you’ll be left with higher self-esteem, more self-confidence and a healthier self-image.
