According to Statistic Brain only 8% of the 45% of those in the United States who set New Year’s Resolutions will achieve them. Most give up on their resolutions within the first 30 days.

Why is this? It’s simple. We forget about our big why.Is there something you absolutely want to accomplish this year Write a book, hold a live (very profitable) event, get back in your skinny jeans, rekindle the romance in a relationship, increase your revenues by 25%?

No matter what you want to accomplish there are steps you must take in order to do so. Outcomes don’t happen be wishing for them to do so. They happen through commitment, focus and daily action.

Here are 5 proven steps to stick with your goals.1. What’s your big why? Come up with a big enough WHY as to the reason you want to accomplish your goal. For example, if you want to lose 50 pounds it has to be for more than simply losing the weight.

Is it to be around for your children’s graduation? Is it so you will have the energy to fully engage in life? Is it so you can be a role model to others? Is it so you minimize your risk of heart disease and strokes?

Whatever your reasons, they have to be your reasons. And they absolutely must go beyond surface reasons.

2. Write your goals down. Most experts agree that by writing your goals down you are more likely to achieve them.

3. Twice daily read your goals. Yup! The more you focus on what you want, the more likely you are to achieve the outcome. Read your goals first thing in the morning and just before going to sleep at night.

4. Find an accountability buddy. It helps to have someone who supports your outcome and will be there to help you get through the bumps in the road. However, in order for an accountability partner to work you have to stay in touch.

5. Hold yourself accountable. The bottom line is you are really the only one who can achieve your goal. Even though having an accountability partner makes a huge difference, the most important person to be accountable to is YOU!

Here’s the deal, if you’re serious about what you want to accomplish you need to hold yourself accountable.

It is possible to achieve just about anything you set your mind to, but it’s pretty difficult unless you use a step-by-step strategy to make it all possible!
