Are you one of those women who like going alone for a long drive? Or maybe you are the kind of picaresque woman who often prefers heading into the unknown. If so, you definitely need to know some basic car maintenance jobs. Do not call in the big guns for the small glitches. You can handle some problems with your car by yourself.

Here are 5 car care tips for DIY inclined women drivers.

1. Replace wiper blades Are your wiper blades doing a poor job? Maybe they have worn out and it is time to change them. Luckily, the majority of auto stores provide the guide when shopping wiper blades. By the way, you will get the directions included into the packaging. Just follow the instructions and try to replace them yourself. You can also ask for help in the auto store where you bought them or consult a professional for the first time.

2. Change a flat tire
Have you ever found yourself alone on a remote road? It could be a frustrating experience for a woman if there is no one to help her replace a flat tire. You always need to have a spare tire in your car. It's also a good idea to have a tire jack in your trunk if there is enough space. If you don't have a floor jack, check out some the top models right here: www.thefloorjackplace.com . Changing a tire isn't a complicated job as you might think. Still, it would be good to consult a car care professional at first. Or you can ask someone willing to show you how to replace a tire. There are also a lot of tutorials on YouTube that address this problem.

Another tip: You should always check the pressure in your tires and fill them if needed. Make sure you know what specific pressure your tires require to be safe.

3. Check the engine air filter The engine air filter is the lung of every vehicle. Be sure to regularly check it for its functionality to rest assured that your car breathes well. You can find the relevant info in the owner’s manual.

4. Check oil
Besides the air filter, it's also important to check out the oil on the regular basis. Oil change is so cheap today, but you still need to know how to do it yourself. Try to learn where and how to add more oil when needed. Otherwise, your engine is likely to run hot on the roads.

5. Replace the spark plugs Spark plugs should be swapped after around 30,000 miles in most cases. Here's how to do it:

First, locate the spark plugs. They are attached to the certain rubbery wires. You will find either 4, 6, or 8 plugs, which depends on the number of cylinders in your vehicle.

Take away the rubbery wire only from the first spark plug. Don't remove them all at once. You will need 12″ socket extension, spark plug socket, and socket wrench (or ratchet) for this job.

Put the new spark plug in place of the old one. Screw it in first by your hand and then tighten it with a wrench.Get the plug wire back in place.

Repeat this procedure for every single spark plug.

Follow these five tips and your car will be in tip-top shape and last longer as well!
