I began my work in Addiction Treatment and Recovery in 1969, working as a Social Worker in the Drug Addiction Treatment Center of a maximum security prison. In 1972, I created what became the military's must successful Alcohol and Drug Addiction Residential Rehabilitation Facility. I took a long hiatus from the Addiction and Recovery field, while I finished out my military career, built two successful sales organizations, ran a cutting edge ISP, did IT and Business Development consulting, and became an Advisor to an Investment Banking firm. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina changed a lot of things in my world, but it brought an opportunity far greater than any of the loss. My business partner and I were introduced to Alan David Kaye MD, PhD, DABPM, Head of the Anesthesiology Department at LSU School of Medicine, New Orleans, and one the world's top experts in Ultra Rapid Detox. His procedure was the tool I never had when I was running my treatment program. I've gone full circle back to my Addiction Treatment and Recovery roots. I believe it's where I'm supposed to be.
