Colon Cancer

People hesitate to talk about this sujbect, however, there is a potential risk for everyone to develop this life threatening illness. Screening test for colon cancer can be life saving, especially for people above 50 years of age. Another important concern regarding colon cancer is the recognition of symptoms in the early stages of cancer. Although, in many cases the symptoms do not appear and one is dependent on early diagnostic tests for survival, yet being proactive to small changes in your bowels can save you life. As the treatment is most sucessful in the initial phases of colon cancer.

Colorectal cancer usually starts when some of the polyps (noncancerous but abnormal size cells) in the inner lining of the colon wall become malignant.These polyps in the colon wall take almost 8-10 years to turn into tumor. Elimination of growths (polyps) as well as non-malignant polyps can prevent colon cancer occurrence or advancement.

Ninety% of people identified as having colon cancer each year have age above 50 years. However, colon cancer can occur in young people; though these instances are rare.
