Cornelia Merk is the originator of TRIVA netics – The Cybernetic Approach To Healing Your Back, a program that uses the healing power of both the body and the mind. Having suffered from excruciating shoulder and back pain for many years herself, she was able to find complete healing by understanding and applying the right tools to trigger the body's and the mind’s innate healing powers. After teaching her own mind/body approach to healing pain, and specifically back pain in her own classes and private sessions for more than 13 years, she has now written "Heal Your Back for Good - Without Drugs or Surgery" and created the TRIVA netics program to make her own approach available to the world.
She gained her understanding on how the body and the mind work together to heal the body after a serious accident in 1990, which left her in excruciating pain for more than eight years. With no doctor being able to help her, she soon realized that it was up to her to find a way out of it. Meeting Carlos Rosas, co-founder of The Nia Technique, and Suzan Allameh, a Rolfing therapist from Hamburg, Germany, within only a few weeks in 1998, helped her heal the pain in only a matter of two months. It was the combination of understanding and using the power of the mind and the mechanics of the body that got her out of the pain.
Since her healing in 1998, she has extensively studied the body and the mind. She took the Nia training and became a Nia Brown Belt teacher, danced with Gabrielle Roth and Jonathan Horan of The 5 Rhythms, and with Vinn Marti, founder of Soul Motion. She explored the martial art forms Aikido, Tai Chi, and Taekwondo to improve her movement skills and to better understand the energy flow in thebody. In 2001, she received the Dai Ko Myo Initiation (Third Reiki Level 3A) and started to incorporate Reiki into her teaching and treatments.
She attended several seminars on mind technology and how to use more of the mind to achieve her goals. In addition, she trained to become a personal trainer with Educogym, a fitness program that specifically uses the mental aspect in weight training and losing weight and includes education in nutrition and supplementation with the Irish Association of Holistic Medicine.
Taking all this knowledge about the body, mind, and energy back into the classroom while teaching Nia, body awareness and back pain classes she discovered that her approach of doing everything ‘the body’s way’, one of the main maxims of the Nia Technique, and using the mind’s visualization and imagination capabilities often helped people to get out of pain within very short periods of time. Over the years she has helped many clients to heal their body in Germany, the UK, Ireland, and the Bahamas. Besides teaching her own approach in her classes, she has also worked with private clients since 2000. She teaches body-centered awareness, positive mental attitude, and a lifestyle that focuses on living in the present moment, thus allowing the individual to make wiser decisions for their body and for their lives on a moment-to-moment basis.
She is currently living on Paradise Island, Bahamas, and has just published her second book "Revolutionize Your Health - How to Take Back Your Body's Power to Heal", with co-author Janet Gallagher Nestor, Positive Psychology expert on selfgrowth.com.

Back Pain is, like all diseases, developed from an imbalance somewhere in the body and/or mind.
