True greatness is never realized by playing small. Take a look at your life. Are you happy with where you are? If not, my guess is that you are playing small in certain areas of your life.
There are many factors that can cause us to play small. It is easy to play small. It is comfortable. Whenever we start to stretch ourselves to play big on the stage of life feelings of fear, guilt and doubt can come up. These are strong emotions and they tend to paralyze us. You may have heard before that thought + emotions +actions = results. A lot of times if we are experiencing such strong emotions such as fear, doubt, or feeling not good enough it is not easy to move into action to get the results we are looking for.
For example, if I want to increase the amount of money I’m making with my business, I have to take action. What if as a mother, I feel guilty for leaving my children to go to meetings? What if I doubt my ability to get clients? What if I am scared to network because I have a fear that people won’t like me? These are pretty strong emotions. These thoughts can stop me….if I choose to let them.
One of the best ways to move through these emotions is to take a look at what will happen in the end. What will be the end result if you leave your children with a qualified caregiver and go to a meeting that could result in a contract that increases your income? How will that extra money affect your children? Instead of feeling fear about networking, think about all of the great people you will meet and the relationships that can be formed. Many clients are obtained from referrals. These referrals come from the relationships that you have nurtured.
If you are ready to create your best life, decide to play big. Now, more than any other time in history, we have the ability to create anything we want in our lives. The only thing that really stops us is ourselves. So when you get those fears that stop you from going after what you want. Stop and see the end result. The world is waiting for what you have to offer.
