Excerpts from Interview with Jen Vaughn, author of Making it in the Media Jen: How did you manage to accomplish all of the things you have in your life and what inspired you? Tina: I've never known my father and my birth-mother was only 15 when she became pregnant with me. She never really took to being mom (in the best sense) so in many respects I was left to find my own way in life from a very young age. Those early years were trauma-fueled, but school was always a safe haven for me and I'm passionate about learning, so I began to study what I was interested in and later focused on various subjects. I noticed that I said, "yes" to good opportunities that came my way; regardless of whether or not I felt fully comfortable with myself in the role (yet). I found that change came about most gracefully when I was consistently taking care of my Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Life (all at once) while remaining open to life. And, that 'I' suffered when I neglected any one of these areas.
Over-time, I discovered that I was learning from the mistakes of others, as well as my own challenging life-experiences. I developed many healthy role-models and eventually accepted my orphan status. I realized that long-term friendships felt like family and that was important to me. I was able to experience myself making lemonade from lemons and began feeling grateful for my past - the empathy & compassion it inspired in me and all that I do have.
I have developed a wonderful life and am a survivor of many experiences; childhood abuses, a long -hospitalization and near death experience. I've worked to transform my life and utilize the best of everything I have learned to help others. My life-style practice and the goal of Life Dr. Inc. is to provide inspiration: for better self-care strategies, coping skills and ways to grow and feel supported - including healthy products that I have researched and use myself.
I've met like-minded experts whom I have studied with, worked with and developed friendships with. You will find recipes and interesting articles and videos by me and other Natural Gourmet chefs, a real-life Princess, various therapists, fitness gurus and other heart-centered authors from various places, with unique backgrounds.
