Stephen D. Boyd has been involved in the study and practice of communication all of his adult life. At 26, he was the winner of the 1970 Toastmasters International Speech Contest. At 27, he completed his Ph.D. in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois.
In 1990, he was named Certified Speaking Professional by the National Speakers Association, becoming one of only nine percent of NSA members to earn that title. Since 1972, Steve has been on the faculty of Northern Kentucky University where he is currently Professor of Speech Communication. He is a past recipient of the “Outstanding Professor of the Year” award at NKU and is consistently one of the most popular teachers there.
His articles on communication related topics have appeared in various magazines and journals, and his three books on public speaking have sold over 30,000 copies. His most recent book on speaking, From Dull to Dynamic: Transforming Your Presentations, was written in collaboration with his son Josh, an associate professor of communication at Purdue University. Steve has also written two devotional books: Moments with the Master and He Knows My Song.
His interest in communication skills and personal development has taken him beyond the classroom. He annually conducts programs for business, industry, education, and associations that want their people to speak and listen more effectively to improve professional and personal performance. Clients include Procter & Gamble, MRERF, Institute for Professional Advancement, Union Central Life, and Fidelity Investments.
Steve loves, though not necessarily in this order, fishing, music, reading, the church, and his family. He values the importance of God and human relationships and all the communication skills involved in each.
Steve and his wife live in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, a suburb of Cincinnati. His children are married and live in Nashville, Tennessee, and Lafayette, Indiana. The dog finally died.
Steve Boyd combines his personal and professional background to make him highly qualified to speak for your next inspirational meeting, whether it's a conference of believers, an association convention, or a church celebration event.
Steve's stories—humorous, lively, inspirational, or poignant—keep his audiences engaged and entertained while they learn and grow spiritually. You always get "good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over," in a presentation from Steve Boyd. His faith-filled, fun-loving personality can enliven your event so that it will be discussed positively long after it's over.
