Signe A. Dayhoff, M.Ed., M.A., Ph.D., is a Social Psychologist, cognitive-behaviorist, counselor, coach, author, and an authority on "transforming self-presentation anxiety into confident, profitable social effectiveness." Her company, Effectiveness-Plus Publications LLC < http://www.effectiveness-plus.com > provides educational products and services to alleviate social anxiety, stage fright, workplace anxiety, fear of public speaking and/or making small talk. Its goal is to skyrocket conversational confidence, master self-presentation skills, conquer speaking in public, and explode personal promotional opportunities.
Prior to Effectiveness-Plus, Dr. Dayhoff was for ten years president of The Mentoring Network, which provided mentoring, consulting, and training in non-traditional career development with an emphasis on interpersonal skills, self-presentation, and personal marketing. As a result of her doctoral research and work, she chaired the Task Force on Mentoring for the American Psychological Association and designed a mentoring program for the headquarters of The American Red Cross.
Over the last 27 years she has coached internationally and positively influenced thousands to alleviate their social anxiety or reverse their interpersonal communications difficulties. She is a member of the International Coach Federation and International Association of Coaches.
She received her doctorate from Boston University in 1983 where she studied the use of mentoring and networking to increase business and personal growth. Much of her research and coaching has also involved enhancing interpersonal communication skills, so essential in business, marketing, and all kinds of relationships, from work to personal.
Because of the importance of emotional intelligence in effective interpersonal communication, she becames a certified administrator and interpreter of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT), which she employs in her work.
For four years she produced and hosted the Continental Cablevision TV program, "The Inside Track" in Wellesley, MA. It focused on ways to successfully fast-track career development using self-presentation techniques, interpersonal communications, networking, and mentoring. She received a Conti Award nomination for it.
She has appeared on the nationally-syndicated Doug Stephan's Good Day, USA, Talk America Radio Network show, local radio and television programs, and numerous website interviews and podcasts.
In addition to teaching psychology at Boston University, University of Massachusetts, and Framingham State College, she has done research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and Fairview State Hospital. She has presented her findings on social anxiety, interpersonal effectiveness, and mentoring and networking nationally.
Over the last several years, Dr. Dayhoff has been exploring the science of creating happier, healthier, more engaged, purposeful, meaningful, and fulfilled lives through individuals connecting with their strengths. As a result, she completed training with Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman, who is the former president of the American Psychological Association and author of a number of books, including Learned Optimism , The Optimistic Child , and Authentic Happiness . She is a Certified Graduate of Authentic Happiness Coaching.
