Natural and Ayurvedic Treatment of Jaundice

Jaundice is one of the most common diseases which can happen at any age. It is mainly characterized by yellow discoloration of the skin. This mostly occurs due to an increase in the bile pigments, known as bilirubin in the blood and considered as one of the most common liver disorders which affect almost all the people at some point in time in their life. The most common symptoms of jaundice include - a yellow tinge to the skin and the whites of the eyes, normally starting at the head and spreading down the body, pale stools, abdominal pain, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, dark-colored urine, etc.

Modern Science does not consider it to be a disease but a symptom of liver disorders like liver infection, gallstones, and cirrhosis of the liver. In Ayurveda, Jaundice is known as Kamala.

1. Detox Premium Powder: Detox premium powder is a specialized form of some of the best bhasmas and herbs that help in detoxifying the body by removing excess toxins and further regulates the proper metabolism of digestion and other processes. The powder is a composition of - Jahar mohra, Akik pishti, Giloy satva, Tal sindoor, Parwal pishti, Shankh bhasma, Giloy satv, Kamdudha rasa, etc. The ingredients are tridoshahara and provide relief from weakness, dizziness, and other associated symptoms of jaundice.

Recommended Dosage – Take 1 sachet twice daily with normal water.

2. Yakrit Vati:
Yakrit vati is widely used in the management of jaundice as it has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant properties that provide relief from inflammation and enhances the function of the liver by regenerating the damaged liver cells. The tablet is composed of - Sharpunkha (Tephrosia purpurea), Kaasni (Cichorium intybus), Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata), and Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa). Further, it prevents bloating, improves cardiac health and stimulates the formation of blood and increases hemoglobin level in the blood.

3. Ricoliv Syrup:
It is the best liver tonic which is very helpful in improving the function of the liver and the digestive system. The herbal syrup contains ingredients like – Kutki root (Picrorhiza kurrora), Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata), Kaasni (Cichorium intybus), Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa), Pitpapda (Fumaria officinalis), etc. The ingredients improve the appetite, and have anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, immunomodulatory properties that help in relieving the symptoms of jaundice naturally.

4. 5. Bhumiamaladi Churna:
Bhumiamladi churna is considered the best medicine that provides instant relief from the symptoms of jaundice. This churna is made up of two ingredients Bhumiamala (Phyllanthus niruri) and Kutaki (Picrorhiza kurrora), Composition of these two herbs detoxifies the liver and brings down the SGOT and SGPT levels. It also increases the production and excretion of bile and is effective in gall bladder cleanser. The churna balances the aggravated Pitta and helps in nourishing the liver.

In jaundice, the right diet plays a very important role in speeding up the recovery of the patient. We suggested some of the best preventive measures that a jaundice patient should follow –

• The patients should drink eight glasses of water daily as it helps your liver to flush out toxins. It also supports a healthy weight and thins the blood, making it easier for your liver to filter.

• Digestive enzymes may help to reduce bilirubin. Increase the intake of papaya, mango, orange peels, pineapple, etc.

• Avoid the consumption of alcohol, saturated fats, such as olive oil, meats, etc. as they are harder for the liver to process.

• Vitamins play a significant role in helping jaundice patients recover faster. Vitamin B helps to absorb and breakdown the fat in the body. Vitamins A, D, E, and C are important to strengthen the recovering liver. Their antioxidant properties promote bile level increase and help a person to recover faster.
