He holds a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from Long Island University. He is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and is certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. Mr. Blumenthal earned a certificate
from the Institute for Rational-Emotive Therapy in New York City, where he studied with Dr. Albert Ellis, as well as a certificate from the Milton Erickson Institute of Hypnosis of New York, where he studied with Dr. Daniel
Araoz. He is the author of numerous peer reviewed articles in such publications as Medical Hypnoanalysis, The British Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, The Journal of Human Behavior and Learning, The International Journal of Psychosomatics and the Australian Journal of Parapsychology. With Dr. Joseph A. Despres, he authored the book Major Decisions, published by Wintergreen/Orchard House. He is the originator of Rational Suggestion Therapy and the inventor of "Method and apparatus to create and induce a self-created hypnosis" for which he was awarded United
States patent 6,565,504.
