My name is Brenda Nicholson. I completed training as an ADD Coach about 10 years ago and have worked with many ADHD individuals since. I spent five years in Learning Assistance at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, MI and designed and implemented a new ADD Coaching program for our students while there.
ADDitude Magazine featured my blog, ADD Moms, in the Winter 2009 issue as one of the 8 best blogs about ADHD.
I first began studying Attention Deficit Disorder over 20 years ago when I suspected that my son had ADD. I read everything I could find and talked to anyone who would listen. Eventually we discovered that the entire family - me, my husband, and our 3 kids had ADHD. Guess that's what happens when two ADHD adults have kids!
I've taken formal training on ADHD and I have in the trenches experience. I'm passionate about helping ADHD people understand themselves better and learn to live more positive lives.
This is one of my own quotes. Not particularly profound, but one that kids with ADHD and their parents need to hear.
"Your grades are not who you are, and are not necessarily a reflection of intelligence, nor do they predict future happiness and success. You are a highly intelligent and creative individual, and if you continue to beleive that, there are no limits on what you can do."
From Laurel Thatcher Ulrich:
"Well behaved women rarely make history."
And from Katherine Hepburn:
"If you follow all the rules, you miss all the fun."
