Molly Carmel, LCSW is among the leading behaviorists in the field of obesity. She specializes in the treatment of behavioral weight issues, eating disorders and addictions. Her passion lies in guiding people to sustainable, long-term weight management. Molly sees obesity as a behavioral issue, not a nutritional one. In 2007, she created Greenlight, a successful weight management program at the renowned Wilkins Center in Greenwich, CT and at Webster Wellness Professionals in St. Louis, MO. Molly served as the Founding and Senior Clinical Director of Wellspring, the nation’s first chain of therapeutic boarding schools and camps aimed at addressing adolescent obesity.
Molly also believes that the skills and theories of Dialectical Therapy and the Wise Mind are the keystones to help people to live their very best lives. In addition to her extensive training in DBT for Substance Users and Eating Disorders, Molly has completed the Advanced Intensive Training in DBT with Behavioral Tech, LLC. Her dynamic program is client-focused and scientifically based, integrating cognitive and dialectic behavioral therapy techniques.
Her work has been featured on The Today Show, The Dr. Oz Show, Dateline NBC, Anderson Cooper 360, and Extreme Makeover as well as in People Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. She received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Cornell University and her Masters Degree from Columbia University’s School of Social Work.
