In order for us to be more successful requires our first determining what is it that we want to accomplish. In other words, we need to make a decision and establish a reasonable goal that we can accomplish within a reasonable period of time. We may first think we have to make a list of all things we need to do to complete our project. We may then look at the calendar and see when we are available to do the associated tasks. And if we are really determined and focused on accomplishing our goal, at some time we begin engaging in doing some of the task(s) associated with achieving our goal. Notice if your list is so extensive that it results in your feeling overwhelmed. When we feel overwhelmed, we typically have a tendency to move away from anything related to working on the project. Therefore, items on our to-do list will usually remain untouched. And, all that we accomplished was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated.

Let’s begin looking at tasks in a slightly different way. Realistically, if we are resisting doing something, it is only because we are giving ourselves reasons or excuses as to why we can’t begin moving towards our goal. Excuses are another issue that results in the task(s) remaining incomplete. Noticing what is in the way of accomplishing our goals is an important step for us to recognize in relation to being successful. If we avoid looking at the excuses in the way, these apparent obstacles will continuously block our forward process. In order for us to accomplish a different result, it is essential that we begin approaching our resistance in a slightly different manner.

Here are a few things that we can do to become more successful:

** Make better decisions and be realistic about what you would like to accomplish.
** Include phrases such as “I can…!” or “I will…!” in regards to the project or goal.
** Establish a reasonable time period for the goal or associated tasks to be completed.
** Be persistent in working on completing and positively accomplishing your goal.
** Keep reminding yourself of the positive benefits available to you by completing the goal.
** Ask for help, if needed. It is good to remember to be appreciative of all help offered.
** Be responsible.
** Enjoy what you are doing!!!

If you notice, none of the above suggestions are difficult to accomplish. In order to be really successful, requires we just begin looking at things in a slightly different manner. If we are faced with simple tasks, that only take us a few minutes to accomplish, approach these tasks, optimistically. You may even consider doing several easy tasks today and saving more difficult tasks for a later time. If the task(s) are more tedious, give yourself permission to break the task(s) into smaller components. Each positive step that we take towards accomplishing our goals, offers us a sense of satisfaction. By breaking tasks into more manageable details, allows us to feel confident, motivated, and inspired to keep moving forward. By focusing on doing things easily and keeping the process simple, we can actually accomplish so much more than engaging in complaining or resisting. Life is a decision. Being successful is also decision. Why not decide to easily accomplish your goals? The decision is always up to you.
