The attitude of a person's heart is one of the biggest topics in the Holy Bible and one of the most important topics to consider when raising your children. Children learn from watching their parents and others. Parental influence is important if you want your children to grow in a way that pleases God. I believe that God holds parents accountable for teaching their children to have the right attitude in life. If you love your children then teach them the right attitude of the heart because God judges everyone on their attitude.
God Judges people by their hearts. King David's Psalm says that God tests the heart. Psalm 17: 3 says, "You have tested my heart ...". Again in Psalm 7: 9-10 it says, "... For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. 10 My defense is of God,
Who saves the upright in heart." Yes, God will test us to see how we react to different situations. God wants to see if we can stand firm in the face of adversity and do we have a heart of love or selfishness. James 4:17 says, "17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."
It is so important for parents to display and teach the right attitude of the heart to their children. If children are raised with the right attitude then they will have that righteousness in them all their lives. More than the action - the Lord looks at your reason for the action. Proverbs 16:2 says, "...motives are weighed by the LORD." Attitude is so very important. Parents if you want to see your children in heaven someday then raise your children the right way.
The Lord looks at your heart. Attitude is everything. Proverbs 19: 17 says that the Lord will reward those who are kind to the poor. So be generous to beggars - they are struggling daily to eat. Do not seek revenge with your enemy - forgive them - we will all stand before God one day. Proverbs 17:19 says, "... a man's heart reveals the man." God knows your heart!
So it is important to teach our children by our actions. Children learn from what the parents say and do. Do not hate in your heart. Do everything in love. Be an example to your children. God judges your heart. Give - with the right attitude - not with a resentful heart. Do not pay back wrong for wrong - but give thanks in all circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5) The Bible says, "forgive and you will be forgiven" (Luke 6)
• In closing please ponder on Luke 6: 37-38, which says, 37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
These 2 verses sum up allot about the attitude of the heart. Do not judge people unless you want God to judge you. God says that He will judge you exactly the same way that you judge others. If we forgive others - no matter what they have done - then God will forgive us also. It is all about attitude.
