Ranthambore National Park is one of India’s well-known national parks. It is located at the point where the Aravali Range and plateau of Vindhyas meet. The Ranthambore National Park is acknowledged as one of the best places in the country to spot tigers. It is located at a distance of 158 km from Jaipur in the Sawai Madhopur district of South-eastern Rajasthan and covers an area of about 392 sq. km. Ranthambore National Park is highly rich in flora and fauna, varied species of animals and birds and unique wilderness can be considered as a treat for many wildlife lovers and photographers.
Ranthambore offers some of the finest chances for sighting the wonderful tiger in the wild. Apart from tiger, you can also spot sloth bear, leopard, jackal, fox, hyena, mongoose, elusive Indian wolf, Chital, sambhar Antelope nilgai and langur at Ranthambore.
TYPES OF RANTHAMBORE SAFARI:
There are two types of vehicle are available for the safari- one is a jeep having six seats and the second is a canter having 20 seats. Both the vehicles are open from the top and sides especially modified for the best viewing experience. The total of the 20 jeeps and 20 canters are allowed in one shift. All these vehicles are attached to the forest department for the safari tour. The guides are the registered naturalist and belong to the local communities who know the jungle since many generations and very well aware of the doings of the wild animals of the park. Jeep safari can be favoured by a small family of about 6 persons at a time. It is one of the most popular options to spot animal movement and admire beautiful landscape of the park. On the other hand, Canter safari is the most supreme style to watch the interesting wildlife. Most of the wildlife lovers prefer to go on Canter safari. At a time Canter safari can accommodate 16-20 people.
BOOKING FOR RANTHAMBORE SAFARI:
As there is a large rush of wildlife tourist in the Ranthambore, so it is highly advised to book the safari, especially the jeep safari in advance before visiting the Ranthambore. At the entrance of the park some formalities are necessary to fulfil at the entry gate such as filling up the forms with the guide details, visitor’s details etc. The booking for jungle safari at Ranthambore National Park is managed and organized by the forest department of the Government of Rajasthan. Both online and offline booking facility is available for the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve.
TIMINGS FOR RANTHAMBORE SAFARI:
The safari is allowed in two shifts, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The allocation of the safari zone takes place on the spot and the zone is allotted randomly by the forest officials. The whole forest is divided in total 10 zones.
COST OF RANTHAMBORE SAFARI:
The cost of Ranthambore safari is different for foreigners and Indians, it includes number of components including park entry fee vehicle hire and guide fees. The fees imposed by government in 2018-19 are as follows- jeep-approx. 974 rupees per person for Indians and 1,714 rupees per person for foreigners.
BEST TIME TO VISIT RANTHAMBORE:
The best time to visit Ranthambore National Park will be from 1st October to 30th June. Rest of the time the park is closed for the visitors.
