Allergy is a hyperactive reaction that occurs in response, when body overreacts to triggering factors which under normal situations do not produce any threat to most individuals. Such triggers are denoted as allergens.These allergens could be either food, pollen, dust, drugs, molds, air-borne, dog, cat, mushroom, soy, gluten, etc. It may continue for short time or remain for longer periods.The nature of an allergic reaction depends on the area in the body that gets affected, which may be limited to just one part of the body while others may involve larger areas or multiple bodily systems. The reactions to an allergen may also vary from one individual to another. In some rarely occurring cases there may be an abrupt and severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis which requires immediate medical attention.

The most common symptoms that appear during any allergic reaction could be:

  • Itching, redness, rashes, hives or development of blisters on the skin.
  • Difficulty in breathing, Coughing, wheezing or chest tightness.
  • Swelling of the eyes, throat, face, lips may happens.
  • There may occur Runny nose, sneezing, and nasal congestion.
  • Redness in the eyes.
  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
  • One may suffer from Sore throat, tiredness.

Herbs Useful to Heal Allergies

Shirish-Albezzia lebbock

  • This is herb is very useful in managing the immune system functions. Shirish has ability to remove toxins accumulated in the body and provides relief to the body from the discomfort. Its anti-inflammatory action makes it to be useful in all kinds of cough, cold and chest congestion.

Neem(Azadirachta indica)

  • Neem is herb with anti-allergic, liver detox and best blood purifier properties. Its anti-inflammatory and antihistamine activities is helpful in healing skin rashes as in case of psoriasis, eczema other skin ailment and beneficial in bronchial allergy.

Haridra(Curcuma longa)

Home Remedies for Allergies

Home remedies might take some time to get relief from allergies, but if they are properly followed, one can stay healthy deprived of suffering from allergies and the irritating symptoms that come along with them.

  • Have a cup of Green Tea is for good results in allergies. Green tea consists of  natural antihistamines, which add on to your diet to reduce allergy symptoms
  • Moisten the nose using saline solution (salt water) which brings soothing effect in upper respiratory allergies, as it removes irritants lodged in the nose and causing inflammation.
  • Peppermint is a good for allergies as substances present in peppermint has anti-inflammatory and mild antibacterial properties.

For its preparation take dried peppermint leaves jar and fill it with boiling water, and steep for five minutes. Let it cool and drain it, sweeten if desired, and drink.

  • Intake of honey produced by bees in the local area helps to relieve allergies.
  • Eucalyptus oil - The strong, piney aroma of eucalyptus oil along with steam inhalation, helps to open sinuses and nasal passages further.

For this add a few drops of oil to a bowl of steaming water, of the shower before stepping in. Just don't swallow the oil or apply it directly to your skin; it's toxic in concentrated amounts.
