We all have goals. Some seem to be very important, others not. Often, however, we are not consciously aware of what we really want. Some of us waste our lives in a fruitless search for actualization and completion. The meditation that will be demonstrated here is one of the most powerful meditations you will ever perform. It will bring you directly to your real goals and will allow you to accomplish those goals right now.

Sit back and relax. Clear your mind. Breathe deeply. Now imagine the following:

Imagine that today is the last day you will be here on Earth. Believe for just a moment that, when the sun sets this evening, you will be here no longer. Fix this firmly in your mind. Now, simply ask each question and consider the answer carefully:

What would you do today?

Where might you go, in these last few hours?

Who would you like to be there with you?

What would you say, and to whom would you say it?

What would you try to accomplish in this single day you have left?

What amends would you make, if you could?

What would you like to leave behind?

Really think about this deeply. Really imagine this. For asking these questions and answering honestly will allow you to clearly see, if even for a moment, what it is you truly desire. You might find that the answers provided here conflict with the goals you have been striving towards day after day. If so, be aware that the goals you imagine here are your real goals.

Today may well just be your last day on earth. This is not morbid or negative. Many of us are making decisions today about what we will do tomorrow. Next week. Next year. In the next ten years. When we retire. But these days we expect to have, here on this earth, may never come. When that last day comes, many people are filled with regret because they have not done what they really wished to do. It is often only at the end that we see this.

Wake up and think clearly. You are perhaps putting your happiness in the future. It will not be found there. It is only right now, this minute.

In this brief meditation I certainly am not advising you not to plan for the future. Do so. But not at the expense of today’s peace and joy. Right now, this very moment, is the only one you really have for certain. When the future comes, it will not come as the future. It will come as just another now moment - you will be in the now moment that is yet to come.

Do not waste your spirit or your life in anticipation of how things might be later. This is a waste of the present. It is a waste of your life.

So many of us look forward to the time in the future when things will be different that we forget to live right now. Our lives pass us by as we sit waiting. Some of us have wasted decades waiting for the next decade. And when the next decade comes we spend that one waiting for the next one. Then, like all things, we die. Such a waste, never to have lived, waiting on a time that will never come. It is the body/mind, the ego, that is responsible for this insane perception.

I don’t know how this makes you feel, but I hope that it gave you pause to reflect. You must live now for, if you wait, it will be too late.

The only time many of us stop wishing for a brighter future is when we find ourselves stooped and sick, sitting in a rocking chair, wishing now for the past. This is insanity beyond comprehension. Right now, this moment, stand up and do something that will allow you to appreciate your life as it is right now. Live fully, exquisitely and with as much attention as you can muster for the rest of this day. Do this now. Put this away now and go. This will still be here when you return. Live right now doing what you really want to do.

You are an eternal part of One Spirit. You will never die. Yet you will pass from this life, this body, this family and this Earth. Waste not another moment of the precious experience given only to you. Be alive now, completely. Do not wait.

Eliminate from your thinking now all ideas and past or present situations that have caused you to believe you need settle for anything less than what you desire. Drop all such notions now and let them go. You can do, have and be whatever you desire, simply by using the Power that is within you. Learn how to use this Power and see your life transform in an instant. Accept nothing less than precisely what you would have today. Do what you can for the future, but then let the result go. For the future is not coming. Only the next now moment is coming. Prepare for that by living in this now moment.

Your past regrets and future dread are the product of the mad belief that your ego is the ruler of imagined time. Let this go now. Neither exists at all, though you believe in their power to destroy your peace utterly.

Now, every morning, before starting off to chase all those silly ego goals you hold, ask yourself:

What would you do today? What good could you inspire

Where might you go, in these last few hours? What places do you really enjoy?

Who would you like to be there with you? Who in your life really matters?

What would you say, and to whom would you say it? Have you told those you love that you love them?

What would you try to accomplish in this single day? What legacy will you leave?

What amends would you make, if you could?

Try this for just one time. Imagine this for one day. You will find that during that one day, your day will be transformed. And if you do this every day, your life will be transformed. You will experience peace and joy not in some future time, but in this very moment.
