Friends, don’t settle. Raise the bar. You are not making a mistake seeking something higher than gratification of the physical senses. There is nothing boring about peace and joy. Peace simply frees one’s mind for future adventures of the soul. Life always supports us when we pursue something higher.

I have not found many people willing to give up the drama long enough to believe this message. I watch them with their broken hearts refusing to give up on the excitement of the “knight in shining armor rescuing the princess so they can live happily ever after fantasy.” No one explained to them that a fairy tale is not the same as reality.

Can people find happiness with one partner for a lifetime and also maintain the excitement? Although anything is possible, I have never seen that scenario occur and last. I have, however, seen many happy couples who, through acceptance of each other’s strengths and weaknesses, develop a love that grows through the years. The physical excitement moderates, but it can also last a long, long time. As far as I have seen, that is as good as it gets. Inner beauty and warm, happy feelings seem to me to be quite high on the scale of human experience. Eternal passionate sparks? I think not.

It seems people are (as the country song says) looking for love in all the wrong places—and most of them know it—but that doesn’t stop them. Frankly, I wouldn’t take the experience of fireworks from young lovers any more than I would want to take Santa Claus from small children. It has its place in the scheme of things. However, if followed to its usual conclusion, the results are nearly always disastrous (as the divorce rate indicates.)

Ever wonder why some people seek multiple partners? They can’t get enough reinforcement from one person to lift them out of their insecurities. If they were confident enough to live happily alone, one partner would be a satisfactory support system —a magnificent addition to their life. They would not need more. In every case, the person who has a relationship to Spirit needs for nothing—because they have everything!

Imagine if people grew to adulthood waiting for Santa Claus to fill all their dreams? Well, there are plenty doing just that! Their knight or princess is as much a fantasy as St. Nick. Finding your perfect mate is totally possible, but not without an honest, tolerant and mature attitude .

Anyone who has watched a TV episode of Sex in the City can clearly see the results of the repetition of this fallacious thinking. Fortunately, most married people who have married for the wrong reason still get a chance to correct their thinking and make adjustments. The longer it takes to make these changes, the lower the probability of a successful marriage. If both started on the wrong foot, the problem compounds. If, on top of this, their family /friends and support systems are not in place, possibilities of success become abysmal.

In spite of all I’ve just said, if you can make enlightened choices and find a partner who is sincere and willing to work at the relationship, happiness is more than possible.

Life is all about miracles , so get to work creating and caring for yours!
Once you’ve found your partner don’t stop there. A relationship needs to be worked at to be maintained. Like your teeth, what you don’t appreciate and take care of, you lose!

Remember:Lost in infatuation we miss out on true love.
