How to Find Things to Sell on Amazon

The question is, how to find things that sell and ship quickly on Amazon? One problem that people have is that when they find to a category they become overwhelmed by all the choices they have to choose from. Some products literally have thousands of choices to pick from. Comparing all the different products and prices to other similar products listed on Amazon can be mind-boggling. To say the least, it can be very time consuming.

The best approach is to search for a wholesaler's catalog, which are available online, from many suppliers - many will drop-ship for you also. Unfortunately, many items are not available at a price that makes it profitable to sell. By scrutinizing the different products you will find items that catch your eye. By comparing these items to Amazon you will find if they are inexpensive enough to be profitable.

How to zero-in on items that can be profitable- when looking at thousand of products - is the real question? Looking through thousands of items to find a product that can be profitable can be difficult and time consuming. Here are some tips that will assist you in finding good items to sell.

1) Avoid searching through categories that are restricted by Amazon. Restricted items consist of beauty items, grocery products, jewelry, health and personal care, watches and some items that are popular to be counterfeited. Once you become experienced in selling on Amazon - then you can start adding the restricted categories to the items you are selling. The reason for this is Amazon can be difficult to work with so by avoiding the restricted categories in the beginning you will avoid allot of headaches. Amazon has some requirements that you will be able to meet after you have sold some items on Amazon.

2) Ignore items that are dominated by big brand names because it will be very hard to find these products at a price that makes it profitable for you to sell them. Remember, in business - Time is money. Avoid categories like cell-phone accessories and computer components etcetera.

3) Ignore categories that target general items that directed at the sexes, like clothing. Some specialty items may be okay but try to avoid general items like socks, t-shirts and underwear etcetera.
4) Look for items that appeal to a special type of hobby or need. Try to target a specialty niche or sub-niche to search for products to sell. Items in the home surveillance category may be something to consider, especially in the atmosphere of danger that exists in our world today.
When you find a potential item in a wholesaler's catalog you can easily check out the profitability by copying the description from the catalog and pasting it in the Amazon search box for price comparison. Once you find the right product, be sure there is an ample supply of the product so you can meet any potential demand. Amazon frowns on sellers that cannot provide the products they are selling.
