Berthold Auerbach said, “Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”.

I don’t know about you, but music has, and continues to, enhance all areas of my life. No matter what mood or space I am in, I can put on a certain song or type of music and everything seems to just wash away.

When you listen to your favourite songs or different genres of music, how do you feel?

Perhaps you are inspired, feel energetic, happier, relaxed, romantic, moved, touched, blessed, or even in awe when you listen to it.

Music is being played in hospitals, prisons, mental health facilities, nursing homes, and doctor and dentist offices as a form of relaxation and healing.

It’s played by mothers before, during, and after pregnancy . Music for many starts as early as in the womb.

It can be heard at schools, nurseries, day-cares, churches, funerals, remembrances, weddings, celebrations meditations, get togethers, and ceremonies. It’s the heartbeat in clubs, the mood enhancer in restaurants and the voice on many television shows and live theaters.

You can often hear it emanating from monasteries and nunneries.

It’s played in people’s cars, homes, and offices. You see people moving and grooving to the beat through various forms of technology.

There is no question, no doubt, that music has a powerful, positive, and healing effect on people.

Whether you play an instrument(s), listen, hum, sing, meditate, or dance to it, it can and has a tremendous impact in, and on, people’s lives.

Ask people what their favourite type of music is and what it does for them, and more than likely they will be able to tell you.

Music creates memories. People can hear a song they haven’t heard in years and often remember where they were or what was happening when they heard it. Many fond memories, and for some, not so fond were being captured through a song.

The music industry continues to grow in its diversities and plays to different audiences all around the globe. It’s powerful. Magical. Entertaining. Healing. Comforting… It’s various things for various people.

There are types of music you love and others you may despise and ones you will turn up, down, or off.

Let us not forget about nature and all it’s glorious melodies and the effect it can have on people’s lives as well.
