It's funny how when we finish school we seem to stop celebrating our achievements.

Some daycare centres have a little graduation before the children move into kindergarten. Then you have elementary school, junior high, high school, college and university.

That's quite a few graduations of turning points and reasons to celebrate!

For many once school is behind them, they stop celebrating their achievements.

Our personal, professional and spiritual lives are filled with accomplishments.

It's important to not only acknowledge, but also to rejoice in your successes no matter how big or small they might seem.

Maybe you got the job you were looking at or the promotion you wanted, or you left work and started your own business. Perhaps you bought a new or used car, made a move or took a course you've wanted to attend.

You may have joined a gym or started an exercise program. You might have moved on from a relationship or made a commitment to stay and work on it.

Have you started going to church and/or meditating, eating healthier, stopped an addiction ? Perhaps you didn't yell or react to your children, spouse or co-worker the way you usually do, or you didn't lose your temper, or you found humour in what seems like a serious situation.

You see that no matter how big or small something may seem they are all successes. Your growth is worth acknowledging and celebrating.

It doesn't have to be a celebration with boom bands playing, tuxedos, fancy dresses, parties, and fine dining.

Although, wouldn't it be something if someone asked you, "What's all the celebrating about?" Your response might be, " I held my temper today and breathed instead".

Okay, so there aren't any marching bands, parades, hand shakes or certificates for many of your achievements, turning points and expansion, but that doesn't mean you can't take a few moments out of the day and jot them down, does it?

Making the time to write down a few achievements is a great start to acknowledging all the things you do each day.

After a month of daily recognitions, take a look and see all the ways you have grown, developed, expanded and helped others.

You are worth celebrating and the steps you are taking deserve at least a gold star!
