Working out is something that everyone has good intentions of doing, someday, but oftentimes they just never get around to it. Many people start a workout routine, only to forget about it or give up within just a short amount of time.

This is because everyone is good at starting things. When you start something you are filled with lots of motivation and energy to accomplish your goals.

However, when the going gets tough it is important to stick it out for the long haul. The big question on everyone’s minds, is how?

The first thing you can do for yourself is mix up your routine. Working out and exercising does not necessarily mean you have to go the gym, run on a treadmill, or even lift weights.

Most importantly, you need to make sure that you are being active and having fun while you do it! If you do the same thing day after day, there is a good chance that you and your body are going to get bored with it.

Next, find a buddy to workout with. Many people claim that they just cannot stick with a workout schedule unless they have someone else there right alongside them to keep them motivated.

Whether that means grabbing your carpool group and getting them to workout with you, or recruiting your spouse, it does not matter. The thing to remember is to find a person that will motivate you to keep going day after day.

Another thing that you can do for yourself is to make exercise a priority. This may sound simple in writing, but it is a lot harder when it comes to real life.

There will be times when you feel too tired, hungry, or just plain lazy to go workout. These are the days when you need to go anyway, exercise needs to be non-negotiable with no excuses.

Next, plan your workouts in the morning. Especially with a family and work, so many different situations can arise that will keep you from your workout at night.

Whether you are a morning person or not, you will never regret exercising in the morning. It invigorates and wakes you up so that you are energized for the rest of the day.

Not to mention, exercise releases a lot of endorphins which make you feel happy and optimistic. What better way could there be to start out the day?

Doing these small and simple tips will help you stick with your exercise routine this next year and you will not regret it. The most important thing to remember is to have fun with it; if you do you will never want to stop working out again!
