2 Corinthians 1:6-7 “Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.”

There are many people who tend to hold in what they are feeling and what they are going through because of the fear of being judged. They may feel it is no one’s business about the things they are dealing with. They may feel others will talk about them behind their backs. They may believe others will think less of them as a person. However, there are great benefits when we open up and share with others.

We are blessed by God’s comfort. God allows us to share about our issues so that we can let go and get things out in the open. When we open up it releases us from building up all these issues in our minds and thinking things are really worse than they are. God comforts us when we read His word about others who may have had similar issues in the Bible and when we pray. God will allow the Holy Spirit to comfort us and release us from our trouble minds.

We learn more about ourselves when we talk about our sufferings with others. There is no one in the world that has not had something similar happen to them. We can learn from what they dealt with and how they got through it. When we open up, we get comfort from others as they listen and show they care about our problems and through their prayers for us.

When we share our stories, others are blessed. They learn a little more about us and they find out that we have problems just as they do. Some people will get closer to us and we can build a relationship with them and tell them how God helped us through certain problems we had. Many people believe problems only happy to them and when we open up, they see that we are human too and we have issues just like they do.

Others share more their stories because of our stories. We show we are human and vulnerable. Others see we are just like them are have issues too and know they aren't alone. When we talk about things that have happened to us, it reminds others about issues they have had and they open up about things that God wants them to talk about.

We are really helping others when we open up. We are allowing God to help us and to help them. Others see that God helped us through our problems and they learn He will help them through theirs as well. God allows us to suffer so that we can learn more about Him, become closer to Him and gain strength by allowing Him to work through us so that we can continue to make a difference.
