As with other sports , fashion has crept up on football and become an integral part of the self expression of individual players throughout the world. Thanks to platforms like Instagram, we are able to see daily updates of how our favorite football stars are choosing to portray themselves to their fanbases. Football fashion has been influencing young aspiring fans for years now, with many children around the world wearing their favorite players' shirts to show their support. Now that many of the youth of today have easy access to Smartphones and are able to follow their favorite footballers social media accounts, and seeing the casual clothes of their idols is starting to influence the wardrobes of these young people.

Let's have a look at some of the styles of the best dressed football stars across the world, this is in no way a rank of their fashion sense just a display of contrasting styles from the different nations and backgrounds these footballers hail from.

Héctor Bellerín Moruno

Héctor Bellerín Moruno is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Arsenal and the Spanish national team. He is currently serving as the Spanish team's vice-captain. Although Bellerin wasn’t interested in fashion as a child, he came to appreciate it through his mother in recent years and has found that it bonds him with his family. You can see on his Instagram that he loves trying out his own things, and even having his own clothes made from hand-picked fabric; as well as encouraging his teammates to find their own style and is a strong believer in individualism. His photoshoot for Vogue magazine shows that he has a very serious and very masculine side to his fashion taste too .

Tom Davies

Tom Davies is an English professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Everton and the England national under-21 team. His style is incredibly casual and comfortable, from his long curly hair to his large jackets and sociable bathrobes, he heavily contrasts the very professional look of most other pro footballers in all the right ways. A majority of his photos have a grungy aspect to them and show him hanging out with friends in very casual scenarios. His style definitely reflects his age, with a lot of appreciation for retro patterns and comfort being of most concern.

Kevin Trapp

Kevin Trapp is a German professional footballer who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt and the Germany national team. Kevin has a very classically handsome look, which he compliments with a sense of humble class. His Instagram has photos of him wearing suits, hoodies and puffer jackets. A classic photo of Trapp, Neymar and Beckham at the Paris Fashion Week wearing a dark gray turtleneck with a brown leather jacket shows this man’s ability to balance a professional and casual look even among the greats.

Michy Batshuayi-Atunga

Belgian professional footballer and striker for Premier League club Chelsea and the Belgium national team: Michy Batshuayi-Atunga has a very fresh style, and seems to be moments ahead of current fashion trends, although his taste is quite pricey with brands such as Gucci, Givenchy, Balenciaga Balmain, Off-White and Vetements. Thankfully for most fans there are cheap alternatives available that look remarkably similar from brands like ASOS, and part of the secret of his style seems to be the choice of accessories he has with each outfit.

Rúrik Gíslason

Rúrik Gíslason is an Icelandic footballer who plays for Sportverein Sandhausen. Rúrik has a very typical Scandinavian look to him, which he complements with faded pastel colours and monochrome bringing out the blue in his eyes and highlighting his blonde hair. He has been said to have a “timeless style with a bit of rock” which can be seen in his photoshoot called P.U.R.E. where he seems all too fitting in the rugged and masculine Icelandic scenery.

David Olatukunbo Alaba

David Olatukunbo Alaba is an Austrian professional footballer who plays for German club Bayern Munich and the Austria national team. He has a style which often incorporates bold colors with classy dark monochrome colours. You can see he really takes fashion seriously with his taste not along the same standards of other professional footballers, instead preferring luxury labels like Dior, Maison Margiela, Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta as his favorites. He was quoted by HypeBeast saying “With your style you can show the world who you really are and what is really important to you.” We can see from his style that he wants to portray himself as suave, and man does he pull it off.

Gregory Kurtley van der Wiel

Gregory Kurtley van der Wiel is a Dutch footballer who plays for the Netherlands national football team as well as Toronto FC. Gregory is considered one of the most consistently fashionable footballers worldwide, whether he is turning up for his Major League Soccer games wearing classic Manchester United shirts or out for a walk with his kids, he always seems to be at the peak of his style. Going for more of a casual look and combining more accessible brands like Supreme with upper class brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy adds a degree of realism to his look. He even has his own website showcasing some of his looks.

DeAndre Roselle Yedlin

DeAndre Roselle Yedlin is an American professional soccer player who plays for Premier League club Newcastle United and the United States national team. He is one of few footballers who has gone as far as starting their own clothing brand,  Roselle Apparel.  In an interview with Gaffer he expressed the difficulty he has faced being an American playing football for an English team stating, “With football, especially I think in England, you can be put in a box and you’re not always allowed to express yourself or do things that you would normally do. So, for me, fashion is a way to get out of that box and to show people my creative side.” His girlfriend Crystal is clearly a huge influence on his fashion and has pushed him to expand his style in many ways.
