Have you ever asked yourself how come some people accomplish almost everything they dream about and other seem to struggle on every step they take? How come some people seem to go straight to the top and others remains their all life at the bottom straggling to get by?
Actually, do you know what puzzles me? Every time when I ask someone from the second category how come others have success I get more or less the same answers?
"They are just luckier" or
"They are more educated" or
"They come from different environment" or
"They had some money to start with" or
"They know certain people".
It seems that, when is not about pure and simple so-called luck, always “they” have some certain resources that the others don’t poses.
Somehow, we don’t really get it, the ones from the first category, the high achievers, have all the resources they need at the exact moment they need.
However, when you ask the people from the second group, what are their objectives, their goals and targets for the next period you have a surprise. If, by chance, you get an answer, you notice that they start talking about goals that others set for them, usually a job related goal set by their boss. In most of the cases you get only a puzzled look and some mumbles about some very wishy-washy wish.
This is probably the single and most important thing that successful people have more than unsuccessful people. They have goals. They have clear, measurable, defined goals and they keep their focus on achieving those goals.
All successful people are masters in setting goals. They mastered the art of setting not only S.M.A.R.T. goals but also setting goals that are emotional motivating. They understood the importance of having goals and focusing the attention and all the awareness on getting those goals.
I’m not saying that the high achievers always achieve their goals. Definitely you’ll find very successful people who have goals that they didn’t achieve. The importance of having a goal is developing the habit of focused attention and complete awareness because, as you know, where the attention goes the energy flows.
Start setting your goals! Success is you own fault!
