Spirit spoke to me this morning in my dreams . It was one of those lovely dreams spaces, where I was conscious enough to know I was dreaming but not enough to lose the magic of what was happening. And then I woke up.
Say what? Did that really happen? I dreamed that I had fallen in love with Ben Stiller.
Even so….really? Ben Stiller? You’ve got to be kidding? Ok, I mean, he’s cute and all, but come on! I mean Brad Pitt dreams ….now those are fun!
But yes, I had fallen in love with Ben Stiller, and that’s all that mattered.Then Spirit Spoke and said, Don’t you see? We’re asking you to fall in love, but not with Ben Stiller – with Be Stiller. Be Still. Be Stiller yet!
I got it.
It was a fabulously funny play on words, and it got my attention, and my amusement. In an instant, my mood switched from so-so to incredibly joyful. It was Spirit’s gift, and how beautiful!
Spirit isn’t always asking or needing us to be serious. In fact, we so often take life so ultra seriously that Spirit can’t find a way in. We block the magic with a serious tone, convinced that life need be this way. After all, isn’t this how we were trained to be as adults? Work hard, play hard and be serious about the whole thing. Forget that this is a game and that life is simply a training ground for our spiritual growth and that not even that has to be so serious. Doesn’t God have a sense of humor?
It might be easy to forget the humor with all the seriousness that the world has to offer these days, and yet it’s still there. Look to the smile on a child’s face, the giggle in her belly and you’ll remember another kind of beauty that is oh, so Divine. It’s in the natural silliness of nature, the way kittens play and puppies dance. It’s light, it’s simple, and it’s Divine.
Why not take time to lighten up your load? Be still for a moment. Go within, and ask for the Divine to tell you a joke, to tickle your spiritual funny bone or to simply take from you the burdens you carry that get in the way of the amusement. Be willing to step out of the game of taking things to seriously and you will find, just around the corner, a whole new game waiting to be played.
Right now, go look at yourself in the mirror, smile, and say, “I love all that you are!” and then choose to allow for the joy in your life today! Expect fun, amusement and joyful reminders in your day. You are the Creator of your life, and you are fully capable of setting the tone for how you want it to be! Simply be willing to allow it in.
