When you love to travel, having to spend most of your time working may seem like a hassle. Instead of regretting your time at work, you can look forward to it by choosing the right career. Consider one of these four careers that offers the ability to travel while you also earn a paycheck and make a difference in the world.
Politics
A career in politics could mean frequent traveling. If you are elected as a representative for your state's congress, you could travel throughout your district. Politicians at the federal level may travel throughout their home states and around the country. Political appointees, such as diplomats, may have the chance to travel around the world in order to meet with other dignitaries.
Nursing
Becoming a registered nurse or a nurse practitioner affords you the opportunity to work as a traveling nurse. These nurses may drive to see patients in rural areas and provide home health care services. If you have an itch to travel a greater distance, some nurses work for agencies that respond to emergencies such as natural disasters. Many missionary and non-profit organizations also employ nurses who provide care to people around the world.
Trucking
Earning a trucking license allows you to take to the open roads and transport the products that drive the economy. Although becoming a service member requires both mental and physical strength, you will receive many benefits, including the chance to go to college after your enlistment time is completed. During your career, you could be deployed for peacetime service terms anywhere in the world. The military also serves in international locations, side by side with allies, to defend U.S. interests.
Each of these jobs is designed for different temperaments and skill sets. Your sense of adventure and willingness to travel will be helpful to all of these careers. In all of these careers, regional, national or international travel will be frequent and necessary. Although some of these jobs require considerable education and professional licensure, your investment of time will be worth the effort.
