It May Be Time To Finish Unfinished Business

Embracing a Psycho-Spiritual path in order to release past wounding is the overarching premise of this article. I say that “It May Be Time” with all due respect because I don’t know where you are on your own sacred journey. Those of you who are ready to finish your unfinished business will know that you are, as this theme will resonate with you; in fact particular instances may already feel as if they've begun to surface.

To truly Follow Your Bliss today, the moment now must transcend all of your past injury and unfinished business. This requires that you’re willing to be fully present in the now! In some ways "Now" is subjective, however, what will happen is that this Now will unfold into the next Now and the future Now actually will become this Now. This is prima facie knowledge because in order to truly actualize along the Psycho-Spiritual path, we must relinquish previous hurts, wounds, resentments and disappointments. Inevitably if we don’t, we wind up suffering the consequence of expending good energy (now) on something that cannot be undone.

It’s really a simple concept that has been mulled and tossed around in many different ways; nevertheless, the bottom line is still the same. Only when we release the past will we be able to reclaim the present and ultimately realize a future filled with possibility and personal happiness .

A commitment of choice to live in a state of balanced integration is one of the main benefits that comes from “ forgiveness ” work. Resolving those wounds requires honest intention, committed practice, ongoing patience, true compassion and daily practical techniques. The temporal process will be different for everyone, but the essential stages are the same.

Healing and evolving from the past means considering the fundamental principles that help get you from here to there. The Spirit-Centered approach begins with an honest Self-Assessment. of core values, attributes, desires, personality and resources. This may sound somewhat over-simplified, however, it does pave the way for self-responsibility as well as renewed clarity. The process allows for personal and relational growth. In this regard it reverberates to benefit others just as well.

When we are willing to take stock of our strengths, weaknesses, and attitudes we become receptive to self- observation. With this said, we then become better at distinguishing between our ego and that of our soul. You may wonder why this is so important? It’s because it breaks away the masks and filters so we may allow our inner voice, who we really are to speak! Underneath all of your hurt and pain, you’ll discover that it is you who holds the key to the door that you’re destined to open.

The Psycho-Spiritual paradigm integrates such experience with a focus on inner attunement. This has been an emerging trend in psychotherapy, particularly for the practice of forgiveness . The Spirit is not righteous or subject to disintegration. The Spirit is concerned with Soul Evolution and Truth. If someone has wronged you or hurt you, this is unfortunate; though it is also a part of what makes us all human. The ego’s identity can be wounded and the body can be hurt, though the Spirit resides in field of pure energy that is unconditional and protected. When we recognize this, we can better endure some of the hardships and challenges that may come into our lives.

Forgiveness is an entity of itself, though it is critical to our Self Actualization and/or
Transpersonal experience. Best selling author IYANLA Vanzant’s captures all of the many aspects of forgiveness in her book entitled, “ Forgiveness 21 Days to Forgive Everyone for Everything” (Copyright 2013). She incorporates cognitive-emotional and energetic techniques that facilitate the multi-process levels for healing from past trauma or grievances. These exercises are versatile and extend to abstract entities such as mere thinking, judging, one’s job, career, one’s relationship to money, acquaintances, and even to the world at large.

When we consciously decide to release a backlog of toxic thoughts and energy, we create space for all that has the ability to heal such as compassion, truth, peace and love.

When we forgive, we get the chance to start over. I would like to leave you with this quote from IYANLA’s book that sums it all up in just one sentence.

“The Day Will Come When You Recognize That Forgiveness Is The Only Way Back…” (p. 38)
