What types of goals have you set for yourself? Do your goals serve you and bring you happiness? Your goals should advance you towards your dreams. Set goals that are in alignment with what you truly want in life. Intend that the achievement of each goal will allow you to receive a bit of happiness that you did not have before. Setting and achieving goals alone down not mean that you are moving in the right direction. You must identify what it is that you want and which goals will bring you closer to those things. However, if your goal is backwards facing, meaning it is something you feel should be done to remedy a past mistake, this is not an appropriate focus.

Goal setting is a powerful exercise and evokes the process of manifestation . Your focus and your energy becomes directed towards the things you intent to accomplish. It is vitally important that your energy be focused in a direction that will advance you to the things that you want, not the things you don’t want. Identify the goals you have set for yourself and categorize them into forward facing or backwards facing goals. Below is an example of each.

1. A backwards facing goal has directed your energy and focus to the things you do not want (i.e. if your goal has to do with getting out of debt , this is a backwards facing goal). The concept of debt is inherently focused on past action. Focus on present action that is intended to create the future you desire.
2. A forward facing goal is one that comes from the creative plane. The achievement of this type of goal will bring you happiness in a new way (i.e. If you goal is to create two free hours in each day where you can do anything you want from strolling in the park to visiting a museum or the beach, this is forward facing). These are things that bring you happiness and you are creating through your goal the ability to experience that happiness.

A quick way to identify the direction of your goal is to ask the question: is this something I want to have in my life experience for the rest of my days? By asking this question, you will clearly be able to see within which category each of your goals reside. If you find that the things you have been directing your energy towards are not appropriate for creating the happiness you desire, rework or reverse those goals. By focusing always on that which you desire happiness will be pulled into your life experience.
